Post by jen5239 »

I've noticed in some pictures some irns have black on their beaks and some don't. Remmi's got some and Byndi has a little. Why is this? Does anyone know??

Grrr, this post was created two days ago, why no answer?

*lines the board up and spanks everyone... one by one*

My Baby didnt have black when she was younger but as she gets older she has gotten a little on the bottom beak. It could have something to do with genetics? Age? Diet? Im sorry I dont know but someone does.

Calling all beakers! hehe

*Shamefully lowers pants to be spanked by Mikaela* hmm, is it just me or is getting a bit sus aroud here :?:

But seriously, my answer to your question, all birds are different. Some have bright red beaks, others have a bit of black, and some have dull red/black beaks. Some people 'think' they can sex birds by the colour of their beaks  But this is not true.

I have 9 babies at the moment (i sold 1 a week ago ) some of them have orange/red beaks but there is one that has a real dull beak. Obviously, this is just their 'baby beaks' and they will be a more bright and vibrant red as they get older. But usually if they get black on their beaks, it is usually the tip of the upper mandible, and the whole lower mandible.

Personally, I think Baby has a beautifully colored beak and it gets darker and more coral colored as she gets older. That being said, here is how her bottom looks.

Baby, you are once again showing us your bottom..hummmm.

Yeah I often wondered about that very thing. I thought it was from my Besso chewing on newspaper when I first got him..now I know it isn't. I guess I like the solid red with no black on the beak best, looks "cleaner"

You want to share beak pictures anyone???
