Skye now shakes hands :)

Post by SkyesMum »

Just wanted to share with you guys that I have just taught Skye to 'shake hands' :) But she (yes, I'm sure its a girl) will only do it for a 'treat' of a corn kernal lol.
I still think its progress and I am happy with it :) Hoping to teach her more things. Does anyone have any other ideas for tricks?
Thanks :)

Well done. Good job!

Here is the repertoire my guys have:
- wave
- turn around
- twirl (360 degrees around the perch)
- retrieve (pick up a bottle cap and bring it to a container I am holding and place it in there)
- shooting basketball hoops
- ring toss (I'm not sure if that's a good name for it but I have a birdy toy that has a ring on a ring toss. The ring toss stem also has spikes(?) on it that make it a little bit harder for them to get the ring off. I've taught them to pull the ring off and then put it back on the ring toss whilst I'm holding it)
- go to bed (go back to your cage)

I'm currently working on (I've been working on it on and off for a while) getting them to discern between two different coloured construction sticks and pick up the appropriate coloured one on command.

I also try to teach them behavioural things such as going to a particular perch in their cage. On and off I've been trying to harness train for a long time too.

I've got some videos on my youtube channel:

Best wishes.

Ellie.
