soooo happy!!!!!!

Post by xxleahxx »

Today my baby blue IRN had his first car trip to my parents :)while we were there he was amazing! never wanted to be off my shoulder, it was like he was comfortable with me and didnt want to leave my side , i even took him down the street shopping with me and not once did he even try to get off my shoulder or hand :) so happy!! wish it was the same story at home though but at home he likes to be mostly in his cage, any advice ??

Awwwwwwwwwe that is so cute....I had happy time with my new blue ringneck this afternoon...I had been out for part of the day and when i came home my little guy actually seemed happy to see me and played with me and all for the first time....i was stroking his beak and he kept rubbing his head on my fingers and hand....Maybe it was because i bought him a new toy while i was out also...finally felt a bit of a bond with him today...made me smile :D :D :D maybe it was a good day all round for our little blue babies :D

I think most babies can have faint ring....Some people also say they can tell the sex by the shape of their head and most peoplesay there is no real way to tell unless get dna sex test or surgical test....i just dont wanna hurt my little fella and pull his feathers or take blood from him...Not myself anyways....i dont want to even clip his wings but is getting to point where im going to have to get someone to do it because he flying places and im afraid is going to hurt himself

Yehh i wanna get mine dna tested but my partner thinks to just wait because when its older we will be able to find out easily as his godparents own a pet shop and breed birds and that is where we got it from so luckily they clipped itits wing for me before we took it. aww looked at your pics,he is adorable !! I can't work out how to put pics up

you have to open a photobucket account and put your pics in there and then upload pics from there to here. Took me awhile to work it out also. If you do a search on here on how to upload photos there should be a good explanation on how to do it.

awwww yours is a cutie too...Yep mine does little chatty sounds like trying to talk too.....just had a drama when i got home...got him out of cage and he went mental biting me and then flew off round the house and then flew head first into the wall....definately tome to clip wings...by looking at your pics im reckoning yours could be male and mine female....just going on shape of head...yours seems to have fuller forehead like males do...may have been the angle tho

Uh ohhh .. yep time to clip, he will bond better to you that way anyway as he will be more dependant on you. It's really easy, you can look it up and find a diagram on where to cut, only clip one wing tho , to put it off balance. Hmm maybe mine is male but I guess time will tell, we will love it either way.. as for the chatty sounds. Do you think they are actually trying to talk ? When mine does it I talk back to him n he repeats it but I cant understand

I have been reading on here and a lot of other sites to make sure you clip both wings otherwise it puts them too off balance and they will just flop to the ground and can break their neck or hurt themselves too badly...If both wings are clipped they can flutter enough to stop themselves from hitting the ground too hard....i remember years ago it was the common practice to only clip one wing but everyone now days seems so dead against it....so much different info confuses me hey....i used to clip my cockatiels wing years ago when i had him and used to do only one also.

I guess everyone has different opinions. but I got mine done by someone that breeds birds and has seen alot of birds with both wings clipped can't fly one day but the next have learnt n just flew off if having them outdoors.Yehh my bird did have a few crash landings but has now learnt what it can and cant do. its really up to you yhough bit I take my baby outside so really don't wanna risk losing him.

hahaha mine decided a few days ago to give itself a bath in his water dish. It had a little dried food on his face from when he was handfed and it was driving him nuts so he thought it was time to get it off lol. I helped him a bit by spraying with water and he loved it. He got the dried food off too.

Hi
I just looked at you baby ahh how cute.
You said he / she was 9 weeks old, is that the age of the pictures?

I only ask because i have a 9 week old (well i was told) and he still almost bold on his head, he has tiny little feather coming through however not like your baby in the pictures.

Do you have any idea at what age do the head feather come through, it may give me a reference to the age

Thank you

The breeder admitted to me he is not that good at doing it....he doesnt really do his as he lives in a big warehouse and he has 2 tame ones that fly around inside and all his breeding birds are in averies...have a friend down here that has birds also so may get him to do it for me yet......Tiki is being cheeky today....had music on earlier so he thought he had to be louder than the music to be heard and just now have let him out of his cage in our loungeroom but closed the door so he doesnt have run of the whole house...decided he would fly round and round the loungeroom then land back on his cage and then started sqwarking as if to say "haha what are a gonna do about that" and then walked around top of his cage dancing coz was so proud of himself lol
