BLue babies should hatch in about 3-4 days

Post by Crisco »

Just wondering what the steps are after that. i know im supposed to wait about 2 weeks until i take them out for hand rearing. But is there any tips you guys can give me? i was planning on keeping all 4 babies in a small reptile cage with screen walls. some shredded wood for bedding and a 4-50 watt heat lamp on one side of the cage and a bowl of water for humidity(though i think theyll be fine without this since the walls can practically hold no humidity anyways since theyre made of screen). I was planning on following the feeding instructions for babies this website has stickied for the 18+ days. is there anything else i should know? DOes anyone know of any good formula ingridients? i heard katies exact was not that great. Im willing to make my own but unfortunately i dont even know what goes in it.

That sounds exciting for you, but I have never hand reared Ring Necks before. I have used the hagen tropican hand feeding formula for other birds. If there is a Petsmart or a bird store around you, take a look at the handfeeding foods that they have. I have seen a parrot formula but can not remember the name. Good luck to you and I wish I could help you more.
