Anyone who thinks Remmi might've helped Byndi...
Anyone who thinks Remmi might've helped Byndi tame down should see my finger right now. He just bit the living you know what out of my first finger on my left hand. I had to pry his beak off of my finger and now it's swollen and thumping and hurting so badly. And I'm bawling my eyes out. Not from the pain but from the fact that he's still biting me. Why doesn't he understand that I am not going to harm him?? This just BREAKS my heart in two. He's sitting on my shoulder right now pretty as can be while I cry my eyes out. And he's fine. I just don't get this bird. I pray I'm not doing something wrong. I can't even feel the tip of my finger he bit me so hard. When it happened I screamed and bless my husband's heart he comes running in and asks if I'm okay and I rip his head off. Does it f-ing look like I'm okay. I've got a f-ing ringneck hanging off my finger. I feel like an idiot crying so hard over this. But it really does break my heart that he still bites me and still is afraid of me. I would never hurt him or let anything happen to him. I just turned and looked at him and was whispering to him and he licked a tear off my face as it was running down my cheek. Every time I turn to look at him he now licks the tears as they're running down my cheek. Am I head case to be this upset over hiim biting me?? I mean I have Remmi now so I get my chance to play and cuddle. But he's still breaking my heart. Well thank you all for once AGAIN letting my cry my eyes out on your shoulders. I appreciate it and need it.
Sadly,
Jen

Because we don't know all of Byndis background and he is an older bird he may have been abused or sold and returned... anything. He has issues and we all know that.
I think you are doing all you can at this point. Just stay strong and in control, everything we suggested before you got Remmi is still very much valid here. Poor Byndi may be afraid of hands, or gets startled easily.
Hang in there Jen, he has a long way to go but hes not a lost cause!

Thanks Chamon!
It just really breaks my heart. He's so beautiful and it kills me that I can't interact the way I'd like to with him. Believe me I'm not going to do anything stupid like I thought I would before. I just wish he would warm up to me some. I love him so much. I know it was my fault cuz I shouldn't have given him the opportunity to have a finger in front of him to bite. But.... Oh well. Just needed to cry on shoulders again. Thanks for caring! I do appreciate it.
Hugs,
Jen

Well you are in luck because we are always here!
He is always gonna have good days and bad but the trick is making the bad days bearable and the good days great! He does not like being grumpy any more than you like him being grumpy.
He really is a beautiful bird and I wish I could get my hands on him for a month! I am not as emotionally involved as you are with him and I would slap that boy back into shape!
Or at least I like to think I would until he bites me and I run away

Jen,
I am far from an expert I am just a beginner, but the following are just my strong feelings about this situation, not gospel, so don't take my word for it, just open up to the possiblity:-
It seems to me that Byndi will not mind biting you and seeing you getting sad and crying, he will just feel like he is the boss and likes it that way, not because he hates you or anything but because that is just this particular birds nature, the way he has grown already.
So I think you have to find a way to show YOU are the boss. I really get the feeling, with this little Warrior, that you are going to have to cut the tears and stop wanting for a gooey lovey bird and treat him for the strong, character he is. You have to show him you are strong too and form a bond of Mutual respect. Just get use to the fact that this bird will probably never be lovely snuggly cuddly Byndi, but strong proud warrior Byndi, and handle him accordingly.
I hope you make sure you show Byndi you are not happy when he bites you. eg. Scoop him quickly off your shoulder with a guarded hand and say "NO" or even make a loud growl/with a mean face. Or if he is on your hand shake it up and down firmly, enough to make him flutter and let go and again make a loud disapproving noise.
Anyway, keep up the good work, you are a star and this bird is very lucky to have you and your patience & love.
Cheers! and I'm prayin for you

You say he sits on your shoulder and licks your face right?
One) This is alot more than people have with a wild ringneck
Two) This means he doesnt fear you
If he doesnt try to get away from your hands. Say you put your hand to your shoulder> If he doesnt fly off, then he doesnt fear you. If he doesnt fear you, you can work with him.
At this point. I would use a stick. You give him the ultimate drama reward when he bites you. You get really upset, you scream, you cry, he gets to stay on your shoulder where he wants to be. Work on getting him to step up onto a stick. The stick does not care if it gets bitten. The stick will not go away. He needs to learn that he MUST step up when asked, and that biting isnt going to change the fact he has to step up and go where you want.
You need to break this patten of behaviour. He sees your hand he gets ready to bite, My birds see my finger coming and they stick their little feet up in the air before I even get to them. Makes it hard to scritch their tummys as they always step up instead it's so ingrained into their behaviour

Thanks Neo but you are about 3 months behind on those tricks and she tried them all.
To no avail, Byndi is sick which is why she had to go get a baby.
Thanks heaps though. Bless his heart, he should marry peek-a-boo... both space cadets.
Or did you listen Miss Jenn? No bad birdies get ANY shoulder time -giggle-
Sucker.
I even supplied her with a pictorial. hehe

I know he shouldn't get shoulder time but that's the only way I can hold him. That's where he wants to go and where he just chills when he's with me. And I know I shouldn't let him. But I want to hold him and be able to interact with him. And this is the only way.... I am a sucker! And he plays me like no one else. But... I don't know what else to do. My finger is black where he bit me. And that isn't the bad bite. He bit me three times today. And only one was really bad. But the not so bad one has turned black. Little punk!

I think for the sake of your own fingers and your own feelings just use the stick. Dont put your hands near that beak. Use the stick and keep using it. Sure let him on your shoulder if he gets on the stick.
And KEEP doing it, even if you make no progress with Byndi your hands will be alot better for it. There is no point getting your hands chewed up.

And I second that.
Jen: You need to realize THIS BIRD COULD SCAR YOU FOR LIFE ON YOUR FACE REQUIRING PLASTIC SURGERY.
I know a 23 yr old girl going into her 4th surgery after the holidays to fill the plug in her face with the fat in her butt. PLEASE remember this. These arent toys, they are wild animals and in Byndi and Peek-a-Boos case, they are SICK wild animals.
Be close to him on a perch stick, that is how I built trust with Baby and you can ask anyone here... she was mary poppins compared to Byndi... VICOUS.
You see me with my stick... I practice what I preach. The more you do it, the closer up the stick he will venture.
If you dont listen to a single piece of advice ever, PLEASE keep that deranged bird AWAY from your FACE
