Yinka is wonderful! She is about 6 months old, and getting fond of us. I would love to find a source of VCR tapes of parrots to entertain her and Tiki, my parrotlet.

I'm not sure how beneficial tapes would be in keeping your new fid entertained. I think having the raido on would be just as helpful and less costly. All they really need is background noise. Bird are usually silent when predators are around, but also some just like some peace and quiet.

You shouldnt substitue tapes for time with you. Spend as much time as you can with your bird and also Give them alot of toys to occupy them during the day when you are away.

Some birds like the DVD's, but honestly my ringnecks prefer to shriek at it rather than watch.

If you want to give it a shot you could try the birdsitter DVD, just google search it, it'll come up. My macaws LOVE it.

Thanks for the responses! I am able to have Yinka out of her cage an hour every morning before work, my husband is home most of the day to say hi as he passes their cages, and then she gets a lot of time out in the evenings. She is content to mostly perch on her play gym and play with toys with intermittant attention from us. On weekends there is more time, and it's fun to listen to her practise words. She has the sound and is working on clarity. Thought the tape just might add variety to their day.
Her favorite game right now is dropping a toy to hear me say, "Uh Oh!" Tiki's favorite game is 'crackly paper'. I make noise with a plastic bag and he attacks, (bluffs) muttering birdy curses!
