Please help me!

Post by Flossie »

Hi all.

I have a lovely ringneck who has been very loving - until now. He is about 18 months, and was hand reared. He is very talkative, and full of personality. However, recently he has started biting - but only my lip? He has learned to say "Give me kiss" and thereafter he leans forward to give you a kiss. He does this, and then every now and then, bites - hard, which draws blood. I'm starting to be a little hesitant to have him on my shoulder as that is when he bites the most? He doesn't bite me at any other time? Does anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong? He still kisses all his toys, and herds them like children. Thanks!

It might just be his personality. We have one IRN that is perfectly polite on shoulders but mine will pull out my hair, put holes in my clothing, and bite my ear. So he's a no shoulder bird.

It hasn't hurt our relationship at all and he plays well by himself on his stand since he cannot go with me everywhere while I do chores. I just walk over and pick him up, give attention for a few mins and go back to my business. I can't say I miss discovering poo on my back!

I've been called 'birdbrained' before, but somehow I don't think this is what they meant. say:hah-nay
