Hello my name is Suzanne,
I recently (approx. 4 months ago) rescued a female IRN from an abusive home. Needless to say after about a week of bleeding fingers, a hole in my lip and just plain nastiness I am proud to say that peekaboo daisey is the most lovable bird anyone could ask for. I do not know exactly how old she is or who originally bought her. I do know that she had been through 3 homes before reaching mine. I was about to give her away when I decided to read about the IRN online. It's a good thing I did. Some of the reasons for biting fit her to a T. So I worked with her following the advise online. Her and I are inseperable now. I would NEVER give her away now! She doesn't say much but we are working diligently on it. She does say Momma and has some very unique whistles. I love her to death. I am hoping that I can teach her some words or phrases.
Greetings from Virginia Beach Virginia

Hi & welcome Suzanne.
It is always nice to read a happy ending to a rescue pet. I really don't know why some people bother getting pets if they don't want to spend time looking after and loving them.
Sounds like you have done a wonderful job with her.
What colour is she?

She is all green with blue undertones on the tail feathers and a very light green ring around her neck! I also for got to mention that she is so tame now that she eats food from my mouth if I let her. She also will sit at the edge of my plate and eat with me. The trust between her and I is phenominal. You would think that after biting my lip I would have never let her get near my face. Come to find out she did not have the proper perches or toys or food and the children that were around her would poke at her with the standard perch that comes with most cages, which she hates by the way, if I lay one down anywhere near her she squawks at it then picks it up and throws it. Tooo funny.

Oh no wonder the poor thing was so terified, having been tormented like that. Some people really have no idea!!!
It is great that she has put her trust in you and that you have her eating from you with ease. That is excellent progress.
Well done.
