Male afraid of female

Post by egchicsohc »

Pepper and Gray Matter have there own cage together now. It is 4 foot wide, 2 1/2 foot wide, and 5 1/2 feet tall. Gray is scared of Pepper. He flies down every time she gets near him. He is also acting weird with his food. His fruits and veggies he has been emptying out one by one on to the bottom of the cage. Is this normal?

sounds very normal
all my breeding pair the female is the top of the pecking orderthey will
get closer & more comfortable as they bond.....if they bond irns are a little picky just because they are opposite genders doesnt mean they will end up pairing
and dropping food is a normal thing too

Thank you so much for your help! I have had Pepper for a month and Gray for about 10 days. Would multiple females get along in the same cage? I am thinking about possibly getting another female. I love these birds!

if you want to keep several female i would suggest seperate cages
the firls can be extremely territorial of their cages & chosen mates
i had all my ringies in an outdoor avairy at a friends house when we evacuated from the black saturday fires it went so well there i decided to set up an avairy at home & put them all in it when we got back
it went well till breeding season aproached i went to feed them one day to fid my blue girl gen had been killed & my green boy riku was being attacked badly
i would only keep one pair to a cage
