I have no clue, I found him outside( somebody cut his wings and set him free). But i know somebody who used to own a lot of them and breed them and they said it was just about a year and a half old.

Re: Male or Female???
Sweet looking bird.
Guessing the sex of him/her would be just that, a guess. Although some say the shape of the head, (flatter for boys, rounder for girls), can be an indication but once again, just a guessing game unless you either 1- have the bird sexed either DNA or surgically, or 2- wait till a few moults and see if a black ring appears. Usually around the 18-24 months old mark.

Re: Male or Female???
I see no evidence of any kind of ring ... I would say you have a girl!! If your fid is about 1 1/2 yr old, you should see SOME evidence of a ring going to come in ... looks like a girl to me But without knowing the age for sure, you can just wait for at least a year to see if a ring develops, or get her DNAd for sure.

Re: Male or Female???
hi Dee
they can do both. it depends where you are, but I know my local pet shop helped, but they are actually breeders themselves, so I trusted them. just go online and search for a dna company, they will send you a kit.
Regards

Re: Male or Female???
Moulting is when old/damaged/lost feathers are replaces with new ones.
Birds usually go through a moult after breeding season, (my birds are starting to now), and usually once a year.
They can have, what I call a 'Mini moult' where a few feathers are repalced, then the big one, where they replace most/all feathers over a few weeks.
Besides DNA or waiting to tell the sex, a vet can surgically sex a bird. The vet anaesthetises the bird and does an internal check on the birds sexual organs.
Here is a link about moulting.

Still looks like a girl to me...
For less than $20 you can get her DNA sexed and you'll know for sure ... need to ge a little blood from her is all ..... feather testing is a bit more, but still less than $25
