You have already done the appropriate things to get them to know one another. I would try and put them together. Put Peanut in with Macca for a little while and see how they go.
You may have to get out of sight, as one of the birds could be too confident with you there.
They are unlikely to kill each other.
Some time ago I thought I would put 2 birds together in one cage to save cage space. I put a Green Cheek and a Sun Conure together. They had been next to each other for nearly a year. The Green Cheek bullied the Sun, and it didn't stop, so after 3 weeks I gave up on those 2.Then I tried putting the Sun and my Quaker together. That went a lot better. They have been together for nearly 2 months now, and are best of friends. In the beginning I had separate food bowls for them, but now they eat together, they play together and preen each other.
When they're out, I'm still their favourite.
