I need a name for my Blue IRN

I have found it very hard to find a name for my 6month old blue irn. I wish not to name him with a usual name like fred or sam or princess. I was wondering if anyone knew any nice sounding names in other languages seeing as how these birds are exotic. All suggestions are much appreciated. :lol:

My sister has a blue irn its name is saphire you know the jewel,
my blue irn is named Jewel.

hehe my birds name is bella that italian... and she is blue...

i thought of a few names for my baby, skylar, layla, tiki, but never really thought of any thing exotic..

just use the search function at the top of the page. You can change the search to a search for a meaning with the drop down menu.

Then you can type in a word and you can get other words with the same meaning in different languages and so on.

My birds have the silliest names cos I nickname them and it just stays. /sigh
Froggy is actually Sky, Chicken is Niamh, Angel is Swift, my best friends cat was Nunky but I call it Nunkitty, My sisters cat is Shera but I call it Feral and on and on.

As they are Indian ringnecks think you should use an Indian name.

We had a litter of pups (10 years ago) and we gave them all Mexican names ie. Pedro, Gonzales, Jorge etc. I like a theme.

actually thats exactly what i was thinking, i have one of my college professors, who is Indain looking into it as well as a class mate. I just find that a lot of the Indian names dont sound very good to me, i guess im just looking for the perfect one. Any suggestions?

I did the same thing.. looked into Indian names , plus alot of other sites that suggest names. I came across the name Kai , which means sea, I forget in which language, but for me that was it, because the sea is blue, like my bird, and I adore the sea (even made the sea change 2 years ago) So Kai it was.

Maybe you could think of something you or your bird likes or does and look up names with that meaning. Oh and one name that really appeals to me is Anikin , from the video on the home page of this site - sounds so cute when Anikin says its name - http://www.indianringneck.com/sounds/anikintalk.mp3

OR - Maybe you could use part of the correct name for the bird (Psittacula krameri) and call it "ameri" or even backwards and call it "aluca" or "remar" or such ??

This isn't Indian, but my sister had a green check and she named it Avi. Which is French for bird. And I think that's really pretty. Pronounced, "Ah, v." Just a thought.

What about Zahn (pronounced zarn). I went to school with a girl called Fizahna and she was from India. She told us her nickname was Zahn but of course, we always called her Fizzy.

I always liked that name. If I had had a daughter, I would have named her Zahn.

Sorry, I can't help myself. I have been laughing and hope that Surferdon doesn't call his bird by your third choice!! Unfortunately it doesn't work too well in the English language!! Its meaning is good though!

My brother is a classic example of ill-translated names. As my dad is German and my mum is Australian, my mother wanted a nice sounding German name for my brother. She liked the name Carl and wanted to spell it the 'German' way. His name is spelled Kahl. Unfortunately, this means naked in German.

Suffice it to say, his pet name was always 'nude boy'.

) I thought since you are a surfer type guy, what about 'Taj'. Could be indian like the Taj Mahal but I was thinking it also ties in with the Aussie surfer, Taj Burrows.

I dont know where I came up with it from... j/k but it is a unique name, which you are shooting for.

It isnt Indian though, Im not Indian, I am Native American but people fail to grasp this concept so Im sure noone would call you on it.

You can spell it Michaela too if you happen to be a Michael or love one dearly. Same pronunciation.

My culture is mono (1) god not poly (2) god so I have no idea why it translates to 'Gods' but it does. Many times things are lost in translation, this would be one of those cases, I suppose.

well thank you for all your comments and suggestions, i have narrowed it down to three names, dahara, ti ki, or dude. I thought that dude was a good one because often birds learn to say their name and since i am a surfer and so are my friends, if he or she said whats up dude it would be like a greeting to me or my friends. What do you all think.?

and how do u pronounce the hindi word Dahara :lol:
