Hi Everyone!

Post by chobi »

Hi everyone.
I just got my ringneck about 5 days ago he is about 11 weeks old and his name is Chobi (i dont know his gender so i just use "him" out of habit). I love him, he and i do everything together, homework, watch tv, play on my piano, read and just plain old hangin. Its only been 5 days and we have bonded so much. i have taught him to step up on my finger with the command "up-up" and he sits up on my shoulder. I am only a newbie at keeping birds so i dont really know that much about them but i am learning. This place seems great, nice and friendly and its so great to talk about these beautiful birds.
Thankyou and see you around.

Welcome to the board!

Please post if you have any questions, concerns or just want to share his antics with us.

We LOVE pics so please fill free to post in our photo forum!

Save us to your favorites, with a new ringneck baby we will become your life line haha, assuming this is your fist ringneck.

Isnt it awesome having company while you do the most mundane things? Growls is helping Jay get all of his combat gear together for his outing tomorrow. Having a friend around makes all the chores seem fun

Thanks for the warm welcome!
Yep Chobi is my first ever bird, and pet. Chobi is with me now and is extending his neck to look at those little smileys.
I dont have a digi camera but i can always take pictures on my phone and send them here.

Yes it definately does, just yesterday we went to one of my friends houses and she had her friend over as well and they had tiels, now i have heard that ringnecks dont like tiels or vise versa but they got on great and ate together, played and fell asleep together.

Thanks again! :D

My girls dont like Chief (cinnamon pied, pearl cockatiel) and wont play with him

They have outcasted my lil fella from the flock.

He is just a baby though. I hope when he gets bigger he puts the lil winches in their place and they can then all play together.

Then again, Baby and Boo really dont get along. Baby is a bully. She was here first and she doesnt intend on letting anyone forget it. Boo tolerates her though I dont know why. Boo usually just gets away from her. Baby looks at her like 'Yeah, move... this is MY SPACE'.

I wish Boo would put one good wooping on her and not let her bully her around like that. It isnt even so much as bullying, it is more like rough play that Boo doesnt dig. Boo is laid back. Baby is off the hook!

My Ringneck hangs out with the cockatiels and practically thinks he is one. I'm having a little trouble introducing baby growls to the flock I think he needs to be a bit older.

'Tiels always get bullied around, even by budgies, lol. They're just soft-hearted like that. ^_^

Welcome to the board! Chobi is a wonderful little companion, isn't he? And ditto to what Mikaela said in her first post, I couldn't have worded it better myself. :)
