Pairing suggestions?
I just got a proven hen - she is a beautiful blue lacewing and said to be a very good mother. What would be the best male to pair her with? She is currently paired with my 2 years old single male, however he doesnt seem to like her very much, so I am thinking of getting her a different mate. Any suggestions on the best possible mutation for her?
In my experience, 2 year old males successfully breed only 50% of the time... but you might get lucky and he could be mature enough. Sometimes it takes some time within the breeding season for pairs to actually start mating.
If you choose to get another mate for your bird, look for at least a 3 year old male. For your Blue Lacewing hen, I would recommend the following in this particular order of preference:
1. Turquoise Grey split Lacewing
2. Turquoise Grey Lacewing
3. Turquoise split Lacewing
4. Turquoise Lacewing
5. Green split Blue Lacewing
6. Green Lacewing split Blue or split Turquoise
Split Lacewings are better because they are cheaper yet give you twice as much color possibilities on the offsprings.

Thanks for the input - I actually am not expecting or really wanting this pair to breed for some time. The male is still young and they are new to each other, so right now I wanted to try and get them used to each other, but the male isn't very happy about that. They aren't set up for breeding or anything like that yet.
My other pair is proven, but they never had a clutch until the male was 2 1/2 - right now I am just trying to get the male to like her some, but not having much luck so I am looking at other options.
Thanks for the input - I will keep those mutations in mind.
