colour?

hey im just wondering what colour my IRN is .... it is an albino hen but when the sunlight hits her she gets a blue green tinge to her so if anybody knows wat colour she is i would like to no thanks.... i just think that she is just a albino ringneck

Yup. Besides feather, the eye, toenail, and feet color would be of help in identifying it.

Although the picture is blurry, the bird does look like an Albino. The sheen looks Violet rather than Blue Green? :wink:

Some Inos do retain a small amount melanin hence Grey, Green, or Bluish sheen is sometimes noticeable.

I wanted to see some pictures because Grey Pallidinos and Blue Pallidinos are sometimes mistakened as Albinos especially by breeding neophytes. Has your bird been DNA-sexed? Just curious since only males can be Pallidinos.

no she hasnt the breeder just said that she was an albino she/he is going on 8 months today

From your pictures, it does look like an Albino.

Because on most Inos, melanin on the feather is not entirely eliminated. Melanin is what produces the Blue coloration through a phenomenon called contructive interference.

Blue coloration when mixed with the yellow pigments called psittacofulvins produce the Green coloration. Albinism does not remove the yellow pigments that's why you could see Greenish tinge also on Ino birds.
