word association

yyyaaaayyy!! Spit is sooo clever, i cant believe it! lol. i was playing with his new bell the other day and i was saying "whats this spit? is it toy?" and after i was saying "ttoooyyy", like dragging the word out and making the word a higher pitch than normal. and now! if i touch the top of the toy, and say "whats this" he makes a high pitched long drawn out noise that sounds like "tttoooyyy". hes trying to mimic me saying "toy", but he only does it if i touch his bell, not if i ask what anything else is.
its the second word in a week he has attempted to mimic straight away after us only saying it once or twice. the first word was Harvey, because we were asking him where the rat was. we said it like "hhaaarrr- vey", and he mimiced the noise straight off but only if we touched or pointed to harveys cage.

ooommmggg!!! he cant make out proper words but the noises sound so right! and he can associate them with certain objects. im so excited. he keeps jibbering away to himself so i think hes desperate to talk to us

:D :D :D

sorry if you dont care lol, this is the biggest jump hes made in trying to get along with us, and i just wanted to tell someone :D

lol hes is clever. hes not even 2 years old and he's already associating words with things so i think hes gunna be a very clever boy in another year :D

im gunna keep up with it. even if he can never say full words its still good, we can understand what he wants or is trying to say with certain noises. like he has a noise for "hello" when we come home or walk past him. :) everybody that comes over just thinks im insane. i spend 80% of my time in the house with the animals, and 60% of that is on my own. ill be speaking parrot soon

hahaa hes getting better every day. my boyfriend was stood at the mirror today and its on the opposite sid of the room from Spit's cage, and Spit just came out with "whatcha dooooin?" first time hes said it so clear! before it was just a whistle that sounded similar :D

also, my boyfriend attacked me (im uber ticklish), and i was screaming with laughter, and Spit just looked at us and started laughing a human sounding laugh. it was soo funny.

hes getting good :D a few more tiny feathers have come through on his ring too. his moulting seems to have come to an almost halt though :( hes the kind of bird that will get half a ring and take another month to get the rest and look stupid haha!!

and my boyfriend named him Spit. he always wanted a bird called Spit... god knows why :?
