I have a 3 mths Blue IRN

Post by Rosemary »

Hello, I live in New Zealand, and have a new blue IRN. He is approx. 3 months old, and is hand reared and very affectionate. He hops onto my hand, plays on the floor, does not worry about the cat and dog, the cat plays with him through the bars of the cage, and "Bobby" plays back with him. I would not trust the ***** cat with him out, I think he would have him in one gulp. He is a beautiful blue-teal colour, he seems very happy, plays for a while then sleeps on my shoulder, I just love him or her to bits.

Sounds sweet, we've had Skyler for about 4 months & he / she is great. Learned of his favorite toy from this site. Empty toilet roll, I cut them in half & string it up on his top perch (cage opens). He just loves tearing this thing up!! Good luck with your bird from here in Florida 8)

Thank you for that tip, I will try him/her with a toilet roll, sounds like fun.
Can you give me an idea of the size of your bird cage, we have never owned a Parrot before, I believe IRN's grow to about 16 inches, the tail being about 6 inches of that. He appears to have a ring around his neck but it is a slighter darker blue than the rest of him, so hopefully it will turn black?? He is quite a character, he seems to have worked into a routine of wanting out of the cage in the early evenings, he runs around and just can't find enough mischief to get in to. Hope you all have a Happy New Year over there, the fire works are going off all around here as the clock strikes 12. Rosemary
