Hi Folks I'm sorry if my english is a little rusty, i'm from Norway you see.. I got my IRN 14 days ago, he is about 4 months old, and he jumps around in his cage if i just walk by him. he have eaten from my hand a few times, if I sit by the cage and talk to him for two hours he may take a bite. he bites very hard when i hold him, i have made it for 15 minutes tops! then my fingers looks like Grinded meat! havent tried to get him in the shower yet, i don't know how to get him in there. mabye some gloves? any ideas? (he lived in a very big cage with his blue dad and yellow mom and 5 green brothers and sisters till i got him home Need help with my bird. want him to like me as much as i like him ^^,
This baby will take alot of work, as he was part of a family, parent raised living in an aviary situation. This is all completely new to him, he is scared and protecting himself. It is going to take months of work, patience to build trust in you.
Sitting by his cage, talking to him alot, giving him food and treats every day. befriending him slowly and helping him to forget where he use to live and getting use to where he lives now. He will slowly adapt but may never turn into a very tame bird you can pet etc.. But you certainly will (because he is only 4 months) get him to a point where you can step him up, have him come and play on you etc.
Slow steps each day, and alow alot of time before you see real big changes in him. Don't expect too much too soon.
Good Luck !

I would not try for the shower at all right now. Perhaps your bird will enjoy a mist spray while inside his cage, but the shower will scare the heck out of him.
Be persistent. If his cage is nearby, try and take your meals where he can view you and see if he starts to eat when you do. Birds are flock animals and he needs to identify you as part of *his* flock.
Each bird is unique and even if he starts wild he may end up quite tame, but it will take some time. Since he is young you have a good chance, so take the time now.
