new to irn

hi im new i am writting because i have a 6 month old irn . i have not found much info on these birds all i know is i love this bird he is amazing ,his whistles and attitude is wounderful and i could watch him all day.well not sure if male or female yet.i really want to get another one but if and when i do i would like the opposite sex how and when would be good to determine this.bye the way my irn is named merlyn.

Hi! You can do a DNA test (which was what I did) or wait till they are 1-1.5 years old for the ring to come out to determine whether it's a he or she. If there is a ring, it will be a He. May be better to wait till it is 2 years old as for some, the ring may come out later, as I have read from other articles.

Congrats on your new addition merlyn. Ringnecks are by far the coolest parrots alive. ( I could just be biased :lol: :wink: ) LoL!!! Hope you enjoy him and if properly cared for he can bring you many years of enjoyment!
