Howdy

Post by zysoclaplem »

I'm Justin and yesterday I was rewarded by receiving a beautiful green female Indian Ringneck. I have yet to give her a name, as her personality up to this point is nervous and scared at best, which hopefully will change with a bit of time and some effort.

She is 5 years old, and came from a home where a friend was forced to intervene and remove her. She was basically stuck inside a closet in her cage, not handled, and hardly ever spoken to. When my friend found her, her water was blacken from her food and other materials, she had no food, and only one toy which was shredded.
She is fearful of me at this point due to the negligence of her previous owner.

Whenever I put my finger within 5-6 inches of her her head begins to shake in fear, and any closer she backs away.

But she likes peanuts :D

God Bless you Both for saving her !!! and I mean that with every ounce of my being. You are her angels.

Justin, You will make a huge difference in her life, she is one lucky bird.

I took on a pair of IRN that had a similar life, in a shed in a cage that was thick on the bottom (must have been a foot thick) of old seed and poop, no fresh water and never a fresh bit of fruit or vegi in their lives.

The owner was sick of them and just going to let them out into the wild. My nephew rescued them to me. One ended up in a beautiful life at an aviary down the road from me with a lovely lady, I have seen her setup and (mallory) as I had called her is so happy there. (Mickey) the other one, well my male Kai fell in love with her and they have since had one breeding season together.

Mickey is alot tamer now she has been with us for almost a year. Kai helps her as he is a tame pet, she follows his lead and comes to play with us all. She is still the flighty one and we cannot step her up, but being the breeding female now, we prefer it that way, just so happy she trusts us and has our Kai as a mate.

If you need any suggestions as you run into hard times just yell and I will try to help as much as I know how and my experiences permit. As will so many others on this board.

Again I could Kiss you for saving this baby.

Thankyou , we all thank you and welcome to the family ! :D
