So our female IRN was playing in my lap while i was seated.

Just to see what she would do I reached down and pulled up the end of my t-shirt so she was now covered in a pouch formed by the shirt.

She immediately laid down and proceeded to chirp very happily. She stayed there for like an hour occassionally moving around exploring the nooks and crannies of her private pouch and then snuggling in again even laying down on her side

We have since then repeated this and she LOVES it. After getting her quota of petting on my shoulder she then heads down to my lap to get pouched.

I can even stand up and walk around while holding the end of the shirt to maintain the pouch and she seems very secure moving around this way. I'm thinking of getting one of those gardeners aprons with the toolpouch at the bottom and just walking aorund with her in it .

I suppose it replicates the nest instinct. Do IRNS nest inside holes in trees?

OK its gone further now.

She now climbs up under my sweatshirt, crawls over to my chest to my shoulder and then crawls down my long sleeve (its loose fitting). She stops just before the end of the sleeve at my wrist and lays down peering out the end of my shirt sleeve.

When the dog comes over and i pat his head she sticks here head out of the sleeve to grab his fur and then ducks back in.

She will lay there for along time inside my sleeve, very content. She absolutely loves this. I can get up and walk around just holding that arm at a right angle and she doesnt budge.

When Im ready to put here back into her cage its now a bit of a chore to get her to come out. Ever try to get a bird out of your sleeve?
It aint easy .

LOL thats hilarious. mine hates to be covered by anything. try to get him in ya sleave and hed probly hide in his cage for days!

That sounds absolutely adorable. Yes they do nest in tree hollows, so it might be the feeling of safety in the nest. Quiet and warm

Enjoy every minute of it. Not something I hear about with IRN's very often so you are lucky to get such a close experience with her.
