screeching!!

Post by addicknchips »

my irn is nearly 2 and his behaviour has changed over the last few days. he is screeching all the time to come out. then when i put my hand in he backs off. he would never normally back off as he loves his time out of the cage. so i walk off and then he starts yelling again. after a few time he eventually steps up and comes out. has his usual fly around but then he takes a perch and starts screeching again at the top of his voice. i dont know what is up with him. he has been much noisier than ever. anyone had similar experiences?

cheers

Sounds like a classic case of male bluffing, boy thats no fun!

They beg for you, then bite the hand that feeds them. His lil hormones are probably all out of wack.

Has he gotten his adult plumage or is he, like Baby, still ringing out?

Dont play into that little bugger! Give him two chances (walking away once then coming back once) to come to you. He will learn fast, either I step up or mama goes away. She wont play this game with me darn it!

he has a black ring with some pink/red bits coming through, so i think he still has more developing to do!

i'll be sure to only give those two chances then.

cheers

Yep, thats bluffing or attention seeking.

Gilbert has figured out that if he does his loud scream I will come running in to see if hes ok. But really all he wants is me to play with him or give him kisses.

I can tell the difference now between his 'scared scream' and his 'COME HERE SCREAM'. He will fly to each room in the unit looking for me, screaming until I find him. It almost sounds like hes saying 'IM HERE' but when something isnt right his screams will be closer together like an alarm.

IRNs seem to be 'moody' at times and just change overnight. Hormones play a part. Just like us girls get 'pms'! hehe. Just like us, doesnt last. But dont encourage bad behaviour. As hard as it is to ignore them I found this is the best way to deal with screaming or biting.
