:?: Hi i was aondering i took my ringneck to my friend who works at pet store and had her nails trimed and she told me that on her wings she has some blood feathers and should be pulled because if they preak he can bleed to death. The feather on the wings at tip have no feathers on them and are a hard black like the tip on end of feather. I am just scared to pull them because i am scared i will break his wing what should i do. Should i wrap her in a towell so she cant bite me and hold her wigns then pull so the wing stays in one place or what, and wont it hurt or what if i break them and he bleeds HELP HELP HELP!!!!! :? :!:

Indy No you don't want to pull the blood feathers unless they are broke. Donna

Oh ok so if they break she wont bleed to death. I know my friend pulled out a tell feather that was falling out today she said if she didnt that if it got broke she could bleed to death is that true. She is in her first molt all over too is that why she has blood feathers too or does it happen alot for other reasons. Thanks.

She probably would not beed to death if one broke. My breeder female broke about three of them one day cause I was cleaning the cage and she gets very up set. So I had to take her out and have hubby hold her while a pulled the broken ones out. Put a little baking soda on them and she was fine. They grow new feathers all the time there is always going to be blood feathers some where on her body weather she is molting or not. Hope this helps. Donna

Blood feathers are a normal natural thing...they are the feathers that are still growing. Please do not pull them...

Cool thanks alot you must now alot because you breed them so you must now alot about them and i appreicate you good advice i will come back to you for more.
