Ok first of all, being Site admin in no way makes me a Dr or any smarter than anyone else here. I am NOT a Dr. Nor do I know much about sick parrots. Please undestand that.

However, I do know enough to know that discharge of any kind shouldnt be coming from your babies beak. If so, the bird needs to go to the Dr. ASAP

Hope this helped some. Hope your baby is better soon.

Get that bird into a hospital box, keep it warm, and let your vet know if the bird has a change in appetite. Other than keeping it warm at this point, all I can say is do what your vet tells you.

Well that’s all I know about sick birds, its not much but all my books say keep a sick bird warm and call a vet. They also say to do this even if you only suspect the bird is sick. Im not to sure of anything else to do, sorry.

Hi all,

well i was really worried when i got home from work she didnt want to eat was all ruffled up and just didnt look right so i phoed the vet and managed to get someone to see her today vet says has a resp infection and has given me some antibiotic drops to give her twice a day and that should be ok by friday if not have to go back also said that she might have mit/mites? as keeps biting her feathers out so also gave her drops for this heres hoping this does the trick id hate to lose her after such a short time together and she really is part of the family now

We get so attached to them...and so danged fast. I don't know what I would do without Prinny or Bodi...and know what...that is kinda scary. They are family to me...they are there to listen when I need someone to rant to.

The other day I broke down into tears. This is gonna sound stupid but a song made me do it. I hardly ever cry anymore but for some reason this did. Anyways I was sitting with Bodi on my arm and Prinny on my shoulder and they knew I was upset. Bodi snuggled closer and rested his little head on my shoulder. Prinny pressed closer and made that beak grinding noise I adore so much. They helped me...they were there for me and heaven help me when they pass on!

Hope the birdie gets well soon. Just remember to give the antibiotic for the full number of days the vet said to give it. Don't stop just because she starts to look better.

We'll be thinging of you.

Amen... heaven help me.

Baby is the first thing I go for when my panic attacks start. I forget they are building and we play. Good Meds. I think he knows too because he never gives me a hard time then. Also, he pants when Im having an attack.

Just to keep you updated she apparently seems to be up and down today one minute sleepy the next eating and wanting cuddles do you thinkits a good idea to put her bed basket back in cage as this might help keep her warm i've been reading and it say during there sick time they need to be kept in a warm quiete place so they can recouperate any thoughts?
