Hello out there at INR land!!!
Greetings here from the Tar Heel State of North Carolina. My Mom and myself acquired our first IRN 3 weeks ago an 11 year old male named Kiwi. Seems that Kiwi has bounced around from home to home and we bought him from a pet store. My experiance with birds are limited to budgies and lovebirds and Mom she has experiance with Lovebirds and Conures. Let me first say...we did not buy Kiwi on a whim as what is more than likely the casewith the majority of us bird lovers he picked us!!!! I have never seen a bird to settle in his new surroundings as quickly as he did. Yes I have read from some that IRNs have a bad rap against them and IMO it is some who do not want to try to understand the breed. He is so comical and mom loves getting the wolf whistle in the morning when she gets up. Enough about Kiwi this time as I am sure that I will be adding more Kiwi notes as time goes on...I would like to say THANK YOU to those who made this site possible!!!! I have read some of the postings and feel that when I run into a "training" or behavior issue there seems to be a lot of knowledge here!!!!

Julie...he is a normal green. He was next to a blue ringneck and yellow ringneck. Both those birds colors were stunning to say the least, but Kiwi's personality in that environment (pet store) was so calm. The other two refused to come down from their top perches to check us out... but Kiwi that is another story.

Baby picked me and I was one of those up on a soap box preaching:
Birds shouldnt be caged!
Then I realized... would I want to forage for myself in the wild or have someone cater to me hand and foot while keeping me safe. And touching me if they have too, despite the fact they hate it
I had NEVER considered a bird. EVER. By the end of the day, we had dropped $1700.00 on his cage and supplies (ofcourse we had nothing and she was only 4 weeks old) and I, unknowingly, had just met my best friend.
