I would recommed leaving the bird alone for the first day/night he is home. After that do not leave him in his cage all day. For the first six months take him out atleast 2 hours a day becuase if they are left in their cage during this learning period they WILL revert to being wild birds. Take him out and play with him...that's all it is to it

Hi londonlad, great advice from everyone here, they are as everyone says very different birds, clever,I left kiki alone for the first night and the next day I just spoke to her all the time with my hand in the cage, she is stepping up now and likes looking out the window on my arm, thats when I chat to her most. They need a big cage though, the one I have can open at the top and she spends a lot of the day sitting on top.Cant wait to see photos of your baby I had kikis name picked before I got her but something short and catchy, some lovely names on this site.Lots of luck and keep us posted. You could post a few names you like and have a poll on here. We liked Kizzy too, pick something unisex as unless you get it sexed you wont know till its older whether it is male or female. With the albino you dont get the ring so we decided he/she shall be female.

Hi, howdy, and hello,
Welcome to our family! If you are anything like I was leaving your bird alone the first day/night you bring it home is impossible! I couldn't stand not holding my Remmi so that's what I did. And he turned out just fine. Now Byndi I did leave alone cuz she was older and NOT tame at all. But she's coming along just fine now. We're getting there slowly but surely. Good luck in the naming department. I don't like typical names, I like unusual names. I can't think of any right to offer. But if I do I'll let you know.

Best of Luck,
Jen

Hi londonlad he is gorgeous, tiny but lovely. You got a name yet? Training is going okay with kiki she has become a little stubborn last two days, stepping onto my hand but off just as quick,I just kept on and on and on,you need loads of patience, she kept flying to the curtain rail and trying to eat the wallpaper so I just kept taking her down and she got the message, her cage opens at the top with a perch so she sits there, flys off I return her, hard work so we decided to build a gym to sit on the table by the window and encourage her to go there or the cage top,it is working, they really are smart and with gentle care and lots of talking they respond well.Kiki is already copying sounds and chatters away loads back and forth to me.I bet your little one will be just as wonderful. I got lots of pics of gym we built on www.dropshots.com/cubagold :D
