Can't believe what happened :(

Post by Kokkewiet »

Last night I opened the cage door and my IRN came out of his cage. He climbed up to the top of his cage and I spoke to him and gave him a biscuit. After he finished with the biscuit, my husband walked up to him and frightened him. My IRN climb back into his cage and he refused to come out again. When I placed my hand in his cage he bit me, and his eyes went from big to small. He was very angry (I never saw him so angry) and I was angry at my husband for scarring my bird. I was so sad, because my IRN was never angry at me and he never bit me. I sat infront of his cage, talking to him with a very sweet tone. After a while I placed my hand in his cage again, and then he only stepped up. And then he allowed me to kiss him again.

Last night I told my husband he must not come near my IRN again. I felt like crying last night, because I love my IRN so much, and how could my IRN be angry at me as well.

Just wanted to share my sadness.

Sweetheart... my Baby is my very best friend, my everything to the point it isnt even healthy.

He has done this to me. He will do this to me again. He has even gone a whole day where he didnt want to be my friend. They dont make god best friends lol. Too bi-polar.

Punkin, all of us exeprience this. But I do know how it hurts. It doesnt bother me much anymore... Im more like 'fine then, be that way butt-munch'. Then he cant get to me fast enough.

I 100% understand and validate your feelings. But, you'll learn it doesnt have to do with you... they are just extremely unpredicatable.

indie is very tame and he will still do that on occasions.sometimes if we just walk past him he tries to lunge at us.the eye thing is called pinning, although it looks a bit freaky its quite normal behaviour for an irn.

I too feel your pain! Ask Mik how many posts I'd post about Byndi and how she'd bite the snot out of me and then sit on my shoulder licking the tears off my face. I was so upset I was to the point of giving her away. I had even found someone on the board to take her. But when it came down to it I couldn't! Everyone here was such an incredible amount of help! So just hang in there! You can do it and it's NOTHING PERSONAL. Believe I too know!!! I used to think that Byndi just hated me. That wasn't it at all. She just didn't know how to be loved cuz her former owners never interacted with her. So she was mean. And still can be. She just bit the snot out of me last Sat. I've still got the marks on my arm! They are very moody little creatures! It'll be ok!

Like someone said before these guys are the pit bulls of the bird world. They can be your best friend one moment and biting the ever living snot out of you the next.

Bipolar and ADD...that's all that has to be said!

the rest of the girls gave great advice.
Lou was very mad at me when i got home today. I worked, and then had to go to the dr. when I got home, he was like the naughty child...so I tried to play, but he wasn't havin it, soooo he went to bed a few minutes early.
It happens, he'll get over it *hug* but hang in there

Fiona has had a rough first 16 months of her life. Since I've gotten her home, some days she's a completely different bird, very sweet. Other days she is her old mean self and will bite if I come within reach. I joke that the sweet moments are when she forgets that she's supposed to hate me and I swear she thinks it's a game sometimes when she bites. I'm getting her wings clipped tmmw because she's starting to fly pretty well and I'm scared to see how she will react w/ me even if I'm not the one doing it.

:? (((((((huggles))))))) my Gina wuz the same way ... always hurt my feelings, but i got over it when she got back to her snuggly self ... about a month ago, she & i were playing kissy-face & she wuz on my finger, flattened out & cooing, then hubby walked by & i kissed him ... well Miss Gina decided to take a BIG bite out of my nose!! i have a scar now ... she didn't want me showing attention to ANYONE, especially a MALE ... if i started talking to Willie-Bird, she'd come from wherever she wuz to make sure that i noticed her ... she'd climb up my leg to get to my shoulder ... any time that a male human wuz near, she BIT ME!! it wuz like "you're MY sweetheart & i won't have any boys around here trying to outdo me!!" then, when she went thru her bluffing phase, she'd bite me just trying to get her out of the cage in the a.m. ... i am very strict about both of my birdies coming out after they've stepped up on my finger, mostly because that's how i taught Willie to not be afraid of human contact (i think he must've been a breeder before) ... funny, he'll only get on my right hand, too ... he has a "hand-phobia" ... don't worry ... they are wut they are & depending on their mood, you could be loved one moment & hated the next, but they always come back around ... at least mine do/did. God, i miss Gina! :?

And sings the tune without the words,
And never stops at all
