Shy?

Post by jen5239 »

Does anyone else's irns freak if people come over? Remmi gets so upset if we have company. Now mind you, we don't have company that often. And if we do they're stopping over and then we leave. Tonight some friends stopped by and Remmi just screamed like he was being hurt when I held him and took him over for Cindy to see. She didn't even touch him but he screamed and tried to fly away. It was so strange. Is it becuz we don't have company and he's just not used to anyone but John, Sara, and I? Any ideas? Do I have a shy bird on my hands?

no i have this problem too, infact somtimes when I have company i half cover lou's cage because he'll squak and make alot of racket. He loves my mom and sister and my one friend dave. It's almost like he's trying to protect me. Which i don't mind, but it's hard on the ears. *hug* maybe byndi and lou are from the same silly egg!

Baby use to not allow company but when my Mommie and mother-in-law came for two weeks, after a day or so he was my Mama's best friend.

I had to make her stop messing with Baby and focus on Peaches, explaining he will get attached to my Ma and be a bad boy when she leaves. And he was... bitey a little. Wanting to see Nana. All she did is stuff their guts!

I dont know if its shy or protection... I cant help but think he is protecting me when visitors come because he contact calls a bit. He never does that unless he is scared for me or for himself.

But if Baby had a choice.... no, no visitors allowed. Not in his house. Very private birdie boy and cant tolerate ANYONE around his Mama.

Kai gets really loud! and abnoxious when new people come into the house, or if we have visitors come stay (live close to the beautiful ocean so people come to stay alot!), but we ignore him and before long he see's us interacting with them and he settles down.

Yep, I couldnt word it as well as Kyria but yes... after they see interaction between their owner and strangers, their curiousity gets the best of them and they want to meet and investigate the stranger.

That usually takes a day or so with Baby though... people cant just pop in and try to interact with her unless they are on a death mission.

Chooky's the same, he will run into my bedroom and hide until the nasty visitors have gone. If they are there for a while, he will sneak out and take a peak but if they look at him or anything, off he goes back into the bedroom. ALTHOUGH if there is food and he isn't noticed, he will help himself and run back to the bedroom with his prizes, to eat them on my pillow. I haven't had any visitors who have been over for longer than maybe 5 hours so I don't know how he would go with an extended visit.

before indie had his wings clipped he would do fly byes and come very close to peoples heads.they are almost like guard dogs.but when indie is outside he lets the neighbours hold him as soon as he comes out they come running out to see him like kids,he even sits on their shoulders :o

Ever since we brought home Jia 1½ month ago we have been having lots of friends coming over. So he'sused to having lots of people around him. Of course we didn't stress him by gathering a lot around the cage...just sat in the kitchen so he could hear our voices.

Now he want's us to come into the livingroom. It's sooo boring to be alone
