The more the merrier, we could do with prettier birds. Litha (so called midsummer) is on Tuesday, according to the Pagan wheel of the year (and our year has 13 months) it is the Start of summer, and summer ends on Oct 31st (Samain). So don't dig out your winter woolies just yet. My magazine won't be in until next Weds, it's always the Weds nearest to the 21st of the month. It's been glorious here too, and lovely and warm, after 99 years!

Re: Billie2
It was a bit gloomy when I went for walk, and only brightened up in the last hour. Now that Bilie has a uv light there is no need to go outside and sit in the shade, sometime she was an absolute beast trying to get her into the small cage.

Re: Billie2
Short and sweet!, today was cooler and the sun only came out late afternoon, early evening. I still haven't plucked up enough nerve to try and get Sanjay into his escape module!, but at least I have it on standby just in case. Santa in flat 3 is an odd bod, everytime he goes out, he switches his boiler off, "in case it blows up", our HA does an annual safety check, and it's very thorough, I wonder if he has an OCD?, I would never leave Sanjay in a freezing flat, or come home to one in winter.

Re: Billie2
What OCD?
Re: Billie2
I have decided to write a best selling novel, 'My life , without a fly in the Kitchen, C!hapter 1. 'The sauce pans laughed with glee and clapped their lids while the hot plate...' no l think that is over the top! "Glee!!! Where do you think you are going?" Lets start again the saucepans danced on the ceiling while the hot plate clapped, yes that's better should make the penny dreadfuls'.
Billie did not want to go to bed this evening, she kept squawking so l tried a quick shower in the bathroom that went down well but she wanted to stay the night in the bathroom, l think the fly situation has gone to her head. I offered her a half nelson, and a dead leg and she agreed to go back on her cage. She sat on it giving me kissses. I was eating an apple and offered her a piece she took it and dropped it but grabbed my apple and sat there eating it. Eventually l got her to go in and covered her up!
Raining here.

Re: Billie2
Maybe Billie thought your apple looked nicer, an OCD is an Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, like someone who keeps checking their door is properly shut over and over and over. It has managed to stay dry here, for a change. Sanjay has dropped a tailfeather already, and his moult has only just started, so that's another theory out of the window. He sat on his perch preening it for ages!. Today he had a little bit of everything I had for dinner, chicken, broccoli and a smidgeon of lemon mousse from my finger, he seems to prefer the broccoli stalk to the florets.he doesn't mind it cooked, either. Not bedtime Just yet, he always has supper before he asks to be covered.

Re: Billie2
/Billie quite likes cooked swede, but cooked carrots leave her cold. She has started to eat Bananna. I have been a bit worried over the sex of the fly that was in the kitch, maybe she left eggs all over the place before l tricked her put of the window, not that flies have anything you can tell whether they are male or female?
Annette one of my neighbours who is on the carpet for attacking another neighbour has OCD she keeps trying the door handle to see if the door is locked and even after leaving she returns to check all over a gain.
Shopping tomorrow l shall have to go to Wilko to buy some more parrot sticks, l might get a bag of parrot seed at the same time but we have lots under the counter which l got from Pets at home, but Billie is not very keen on those. I mix it all up. She leaves a lot so l give her two and half tables spoons full. I am trying to keep her off table scraps, although l do give her some chicken bits from my chicken and mushroom soup. I tip the spoon up and she jiggles it to catch any soup therein.

Re: Billie2
Oh Bother!, I forgot to see if my Parrot magazine was in, and its another week before I hit the shops again. Sigh. Sanjay had a rosewater and glycerin spray earlier, he didnt ask, but he was faffing around with the itchy scratchies, so I inflicted it on him, he tried hiding behind his toys, but I managed to give him a good misting anyway, afterwards he seemed much better for it.
Flies dont wear pink or blue flying goggles, mind you, nowadays a lot of "guys" wear pink. Mullerlight yogurts have brought out a Turkish Delight version, with choccy sprinkles mixed in, it is very very nice for a low fat yogurt, even if it is a bit runny. Shared a piece of my gluten free nut bar with himself, that reminds me, Wilko had very few seedy bars left, no parrot ones at all, so he will have to make do with budgie and canary ones. Sime parrot seed mixes are very dusty, Wilkos seems less so, he likes the fruit parrot mix Jolleys sell, but I cant get there so easily since daddi died. Its a beautiful evening here,

Re: Billie2
Have you logged onto parrotmag.com/lost and found? It is quite interesting. Forgot to go to Wilko's so will have to go friday but as l forgot to buy any more pears will get some more then. Billie likes pears. She likes bananna too. We only have 6 pairs of parrot sticks left, she does not like any other. I have discovered a good incentive to losing more weight is to buy clothing on size too small, l bought some very nice grey jeans, my legs go in but have got to shed 2" off my tummy for that to go in as well! Bought her some podded broad beans and podded peas she likes those too.
Billie dropped a tail feather today her first. She does not look itch but she has had two showers today, fresh water and rose water spray. Turkish Delight is yuk. Yes the evening here is very nice a little breeze and late afternoon sunshine. They have cleared a neighbours flat we have not seen him for two years. Madam is very quiet; ta ra.

Oh dear!, why abandon ones home?, I wonder what happened to him?. My daughter tends to buy clothes which are too small, but she squeezes herself into them, and looks awful!, I say nothing, it's not worth the trouble.
Funnily enough I had a craving for frys Turkish Delight when I was expecting her. Another wing feather today, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of down feathers this time, usually his cage bars are covered in them.

Re: Billie2
Billie is losing wing and tail feathers it may depend how hot it is on the amount of down feathers are shed. I got back form voting "Leave" they had a big response so far, and it was very hot in the LR so l turned on the fans and she loved the big one fluffing up her feathers every time the cool air passed her, saw your mail about IRN.com being down no problems here so far but will respond to your private email. Madame kept waking e up with her bang the door at 4 am so about ten l discovered the wind caught the door and it banged hope it woke her up! At 11am she was on the telephone ff[*]ing every other word l was playing my organ but l turned the volume down so I could hardly hear it.

I voted "Leave" too, every person of my age group, which I have spoken to, is voting "Leave", if it hadn't been for the advent of UKIP this day may never have come.
Sweeties been having a sing song, thankfully my flat isn't hot enough for a fan just yet.
I wonder how long Emma has left?, I wonder if she kisses her mummy with that mouth?

Re: Billie2
Free! Free at last.
Glad all over to have you back, as for Emma l do not think she has a mummy! Sunny and cooler today bit of rain this afternoon, possibly if she does not cause any more noise her notice will expire in a year's time? All can do is count my luckty stars she is reasonalby quiet. Lyllette told me Emma had complianed about my organ playing being too loud, so l turned it down, can hardly hear it now, but it is good to know she is bothered by it. But my next door neighbour is very nosiy at weekends he has the same problem drunks in his living room shouting and playing very loud disco drums all night. I tried to log into the council website but everry time l made a msitake it took me back to the beginning very frustrating, and l still have not logged on!
All those doom and gloom predictions were wrong but we do have to thank Cameron and co for getting our country back into a strong financial position. Yes UKIP did a lot of the ground work I hope Nigel Farage's Independence Day does become a Bank Holiday. Every time Nichola Sturgeon comes on the TV it makes me laugh you may heard the rhyme
"The Virgin sturgeon needs no urging!!" Do you think they should have another referendum?

Re: Billie2
I think Scotland would be very foolish indeed, if they remain in the EU, I cannot see how they could afford it financially, Or cope with ths massive influx of refugees who will invariably flood in, furthermore, how many invaders will use Scotland as a backdoor into the rest of the UK?, Hadrians wall will have to be fortified!, as much as I find Sturgeon quite charismatic, I think her bumps need reading.
Santa returned from a very protracted holiday today, first his mummy in Devon, then Scotland with his brother, but you wouldn't know he's there, he is so quiet and invisible.
Upstairs there are intriguing goings on, one Croatian doesn't seem to be there, t'other seems to have had his hours cut at work, if one has gone home to visit his folks, will he be allowed back? One wonders?.
Goodbye Mr Cameron, close the door on your way out!.

Re: Billie2
Ms Sturgeon hopes to play the game where if you say to your opponent "Best of three?" in the hope that you can win the next two and when you do not you say "Best of five?" I think they will make her wait until we have sorted it all out. My next door neighbour was burgled he is hardly ever here or was it there? However there are new padlocks on his door so it looks as if he has given up his tenancy. The young man downstairs was so loud l complained and since then l have not seen him for weeks. Billie is on top of her cage staring at me, she wants to be covered up and is chirping loudly.
Managed to get a walk between the showers, but as l came home the weather was rumbling nosily and the louds looked very dark but the sun is out now and it is very war. Emma has been out all day so it has been nice and quiet here. Who would you like to see as the next prime minister? I would like Boris!

Oh I Love typo's! I can just picture the weather rumbling "nosily", ("where've you been?", "wotcha been doin'?"), lol!.
A friend of ours was broken into, but her stealthy dog gave them such a fright, they took nothing, just fled!, he was a fourteen year old Samoyed, and a big huggy bear, but they didn't know that, our friend still moved out afterwards though, it really shook her up.
I pottered in the garden between showers, my Ziguener Knabe (gypsy boy) roses are thugs, but because they only flower once, and flower on old wood, I cut them down to size, by removing the new branches. Sprayed my roses, and lay (organic)) snail bait, you'd be amazed at the number of empty shells I find, (perhaps they came out as slugs?).
Boris Johnson reminds me of Tommy Cooper, I really couldn't take him seriously, Prime Minister ? Or Clown Minister?, but my guess is Michael Gove, not that I find him interesting, Nigel Farage always reminds me of one of those cartoon men with the boozy red nose!, Andy Capp Without the cap, I don't know why!

Re: Billie2
Another Margaret Thatcher? But not Trees a May. Don't fancy Feremy! If snails can come out as slugs why cannot Gays come as slugs too.
Do you remember "Yes Minister?" They picked Hacker because he was a buffoon, Boris might be the right choice.

Re: Billie2
Gays or slugs? We get a lot of slugs here the area is very damp, there is a capped well some where near.
Re: Billie2
I thought we had had the longest day? It will take some time before we notice the sun setting earlier, l prefer it cold
but have to admit since losing so much weight l feel the cold more than before. Had a nice baked potato this evening with a beef burger and some vegs l like to smother it in gravy. Unfortunately l over cooked the BB and the potato l ate was the second the first l followed the Microwave book for 800 grams 9 minutes it was far too long the second one was great but l burnt my fingers on the steam as it came out of the M/w.
We have idiots here they put waste food into the recycle bins so before l got Billie up l dashed out to move the bins further away from my windows and one of my nicer neighbours was out and we had a long conversation so l was 15 minutes late in getting Billie up, as l pulled off the covers she was swearing like madness. But we soon made up. I give her a parrot stick in the afternoons she does not have time to rip it to pieces that day so half is still hanging up in the morning. Shopping tomorrow she gets a millet spray but l think she is going off them as the one l gave her on Sunday most of it is still floating around the bottom of the cage.

Re: Billie2
Several years ago the bins were not emptied for a fortnight over the Christmas break, next door, there was a Czech woman who lived upstairs, and would chuck her rubbish out of the top window because she was too lazy to come down, it didn't always go into the bin, anyway, this time it was food waste, unwrapped and not in a bag or sack, as you can imagine it absolutely reeked, and the bin was overflowing, a passer by was so revolted, he vomited.
Anyway, she got chucked out eventually.
I change Sanjays floor covering every day, so anything on the floor gets chucked. I remembered my magazine today, and I might give the recipe on page 5 a try, (veggie leather).
It's been very pleasant here, it started off sultry, but a nice cooling breeze sprang up, personally I like baked potatoes crispy, so I microwave for a few minutes then brush with oil and pop them in my Air fryer, the skin crisps up nicely, I like coleslaw with my jacket, but not with sweet potato. I bought Sanjay a cuttlebone, he has had a few nibbles, but hasn't demolished it like previous ones. I might go to the market on Weds, and see if the Asian stall has anything more interesting than tesco etc, buy him a rugby ball papaya whilst I'm there, it depends on the weather.

Re: Billie2
A strange thing happened on the way home from shopping there two film crews working for ITV evidentially they were covering people reactions to Brexit. So if you see an old geezer with a purple shopping trolley that's me! I bought Billie a rope toy from Wilko she spent ages trying to bite a green bead off it and then started to chew the rope to get the bead free. That's intelligence! I did the decent thing and left two parrot sticks but snaffled the rest all 8. I also bought so more seed...............we have seed coming out of our ears. Mark told me yesterday that the bin men were supposed to be coming to empty the recycle bins but he agreed with me that we are better off with out them.
We had bins that were 30 years old and the council would not replace them but my friend Anthony was a bit of an arsonist set light to all 3 so many times that the lids were burnt off, and when it rained they filled up with water, so the council had to replace them, Anthony died in prison after being caught setting a fire in the "Village" a *** hotel in Birmingham, he was narked that they would not let him a room. He once owned a Roma caravan they cost in 1980 £35,000, it was insured and one day burnt to the ground after a chip pan fire but the strange thing was that before the fire he removed all the furnishings! Anthony told me once that an antique shop owner friend of his had stashed away £100,000 in a wardrobe and at another time Ant told me had spent £100,000 in less than three years and when l asked him where does a gipsy get that sort of money? He said "Stole it!"
I miss Ant 10 years this august since l first met him.

Ant sounds as though he was quite a character!, he broke the mould.
It rained a great deal today, and I've had to put the heating on this evening, looks as though we will get an Indian summer this year. I don't watch the news, but I wouldn't get your regional news anyway, but it would have been fun to see you and your purple trolley.
Sanjays moult is quite peculiar this year, hardly anything, and still no down feathers, normally he's sporting a crew cut by now, little quills complete with cuticles!. No, it draws out infinitesimally, a few seconds a night, just as it draws in, we don't notice it getting lighter until about February.

Re: Billie2
Oh he was, he took me all over the place we visited his families graves, his family was dogged with bad luck, his parents had a son in 1910 who dies aged 19 and a daughter who died aged 14 in 1934, they were buried in Coventry his parents, he was adopted in 1945 aged 18 months and had a younger brother but he had lost contact. His new mother died when he was 14, his dad dies 4 years later, they were both buried at Bidford on Avon
he had two older brothers and both died in the 60's 4 years apart. He also dragged me round to all the charity shops, and we went to antique fairs besides visiting his relatives, He always said when said goodbye, "Love you my way!" He likes to look bronzed and would sun bathe naked! Yes l miss him.
Billies moult is taking its time too.

I wonder if it's this cool weather slowing the moult down?, in dogs we would say "it's a bad year for coats". I lost my natural mother when I was 2, uterine cancer, and her family swooped in, my eldest sister 19, went into nursing, my eldest ,brother 17, stayed with an uncle until he went into the army, the next two, a 9 yr old sister and 6 yr old brother went with my grandparents and eventually ended up in a childrens home, and I was adopted by an aunt, who couldn't have children, and who, with her husband, should Never have had Any child, nowadays I would've been removed by social services. Anyway, I didn't meet my brothers and sisters again until the eighties. As for my dad, he must have married his bit on the side because they were buried together. Hey ho,
Another miserable cool day, it's quite depressing, thank goodness Sanjay has his UV light, his alcove would be really dark without it.

Re: Billie2
We all have skeletons in the cupboard, my relatives disowned me back in the 70's and my sister would have inherited the estate, it does not bother me as l am a firm believer in letting God provide all l need. My sister is a Roman Catholic and does not believe in birth control and so has a large family, mostly girls. My brother in law followed my dad in the free masons, All that mumbo jumbo leaves me cold. Tour de France starts Saturday, l shall be glued to the TV for six weeks. Good job l got a laptop as l can work in the LR while l watch the telly. This laptop converts I to I but l am so used to typing and l for I on typewrites that l still do it!!

Well, Guess who flew over and landed on me today? And rode on me for a few steps!, he Is getting bold. I prefer writing on laptop or tablet, tbh, no ribbon to worry about, no tippex to buy, and I love the choice of fonts.
I had to laugh at Ms Sturgeon, turned up at the EU all bright eyed and bushy tailed, and wasn't allowed in!.
I'm beginning to think we are the only two subscribing to this forum!.

What happened to the good bad and ugly? Perhaps a few contentious remarks from me might stir up the coals after all l have to live up to my Internet Troll reputation! Next time Sweetie lands on your shoulder stand still and say encouraging remarks. No do not say "encourging remarks!" but say Hallo.
Some of the tenants here are idiots they put food waste into the recycle bins, but fortunately the bin men emptied the bins today. My lovely housing officer Lylette has left, so now we wait to see who the next one will be hope Emma does not play up before then.

Re: Billie2
I said "hello darling!" And he gave me the lazy eye before taking off to his door top.
I took delivery of a parcel today (new toaster), and unpacked it on the sitting room table, much excitement from the alcove!, he must have thought it a red cross parcel,

Re: Billie2
Billie susprised me today she flew from her cage across the LR into the hall and attempted to fly though the nets at the bath room entrance but got a claw on each one as they part in the middle. She came down onto my arm and sat on my shoulder and both had a good laugh at her antics, but it taught me to be extra careful about open windows in rooms she does not use. You could try Introduce Yourself there are a lot of unswered people there, one l replied to in May and no one else has helped so l invited Amanda and Lacci from Western Australia to join us here.
Did l tell you that l did my National Service as a RASC clerk at Sandhurst? I was third highest in our class, the top man went to SHAEF in Washington USA, the second man did a clerical job in Whitehall he had a similar job in civvy street which paid him £17 a week but now all her got was Army pay of 22/6d a week! My first posting was to the Inteligence Corps at Maresfield Sussex but they sent me back saying the did not wants any more NS clerks. I got back to Aldershot in the middle of a QMS parade and was posted to the first available one the RMASandhurst. Our Church secretary is about the same age as me and he did his NS as a driver in Germany, and he is green with envy when l told him l had 112 days leave the first year and 132 days leave the seconed year and went home every wednesday after noon to attend night school. On top of which l was classed a GD (General Duties) on Nato exercises the first was to Northern Island. We were located at Milligan point in Londonderry not far from Coleraine.
We had to be on our guard all the time because of the IRA, but l was granted leave and went into town and stopped off at a Brothy, where I bought s local man a Guiness and he bought me one. By heck that stuff was strong and on the way back to camp l flaked out and a car pulled up and somebody said "Its all right he is only drunk!" The next year we went to Portugal but that is another story.
Billie likes parcels as well, she loves pulling them open.

Re: Billie2
My brother in law was a pay corps guy, (desk chair warrior) stationed at Sandhurst, me and daddi both did our CADA courses there.
The whole area around Camberley is nice, Aldershot was the go to place, with the Roundabout Club, and Pegasus pub, all gone now, sadly.
Yes, I tend to get paranoid about windows, even though himself ignores them, there's always that chance he might get curious one day, and it would be the one day I'd forgotten to close one.
I pottered in the garden this morning, and because he could see me, Sanjay kept calling, I don't know what neighbours and passers by thought about me calling back!, must have thought I'd escaped from the funny farm.

Re: Billie2
What's a CADA when it is at home. I seem to remember the Pegasus pub is that where the Paras hang out? I keep all my window only open a l lttie partly because of the smell coming up from down stairs.
Billie makes me laugh she was busy preening about 4 pm but at 10 to 5 she went up to the top of her cage and lookled out of the window, l heard her tut tut and she carried on preening the next time she looked it was 5 pm and she let me know it was time to get the covers out. Now a days a lot of people appear to talk ot themselves aloud but really they are talking into a phone mike.
But your neighbours might think you were off your trolley, in Bedlam they strap patients on trolleys so they can quickly move them but they get stacked up in the hall and clever patients undo the straps and don a white coat and pretend to be a doctor, l know l have been there!

Re: Billie2
A carder (CADA) course is a leadership course, you have to go on when you're promoted.
My daughter was in psychiatric hospital years ago, thankfully they no longer strapped folk to trolleys,
It's been a lovely day here, but Santas flat whiffs, and he never opens his windows, it stinks the communal hall out. But then, I never see or hear him put rubbish out, or hang his necessaries on the line. The other guys are the same, but the young one in number 1 uses the washing line, he never hangs bedding out tho'.
It's not a guy thing, daddi kept himself immaculate.
Sanjay hasn't ridden on my anatomy since, today he perched on the chandelier for a change.

Re: Billie2
That's true, l did a spell in a mental hospital my parents had me committed because of my way yward behaviour but after two years the doctors said there was nothing more they could do and my parents had to have me back, I was allowed to to go to work in the city during the week and allowed to go aNY WHERE THE BACK WARDS WERE TERRIFY! The poor women screaming. Also depresssing were the patients suffering dementia holding hands as they walked along. But it wasn't long before mother found me a flat.
Of course now l remember CADA courses were all the rage when l did my NS but l only went in because my Da was in the Army during the war, and l hated it l did everything to play up, l wore brown shoes on parade and had red and white check socks so when we Marked time they could be seen, and I got 7 days in the cookhouse as a punishment! As a model room clerk l could have had two stripes but was content to remain a private.
Maybe perching on shoulders is not a guy thing, When l was out walking l picked some dandylion leaves and put them in her cage she totally ignorred them! I was biting an apple and bit a piece off for her but she turned her nose up at it and when l went to put it on top of her cage she grabbed the remainder of my apple. Took a couple of bites and dropped it on the floor.

Re: Billie2
Two years!, that's horrendous!, even if you're sectioned these days, they can't keep you more than six months!, my daughter was Very ill, severe paranoid schizophrenia, but because she volunteered to stay, they let her come home weekends, that was 17 yrs ago, now she is on brilliant medication you would never guess she has anything wrong with her, but Two years? When you're not even ill?,.
We both loved our service, the postings were brilliant, with maybe one exception, South Wales, the worst posting Ever, dark, dingy, damp, the quarters were slums.
Deep joy! Mummi found passion fruit in tesco today, and Sanjay is o be joyful!, hopefully his other favourites won't be long coming.

Re: Billie2
Billie has ignorred the white grapes she now likes the red ones, I saved some chicken from a Chicken and rice supreme and gave her a piece but after a few nibbles she dropped it. She had turned her nose up at cooked carrot but that is now back in flavour. Tues/Wed/Thurs/Frid l steam up vegs with a quarter can of corned beef and save some cooked swede, I tried Billie with Passion fruit but not even l could eat it. I did not buy any more soft figs, and there were no podded peas,l thought Asda's display of fruit was very poor, no small punnets of raspberries, no Blackberries, the strawberries only had a couple of days left!
Actually l was wrong to say my parents had me commited it was supposed to be voluntary but l had little comprehension of what was happening at that time 1964. When we went to Northern Island the ferry crossing was very rough and we were delayed and when we arrived there were no drivers so us clerks were roped in to drive a champ. We picked them up from a depot outside Belfast it was next to a knackers year, the smell was terrible so l was only too pleased to get away. Champs do not have stop lights and you had to be careful not to hit the one in front, when we arrived at the camp the proper driver refused to sign for the champ as I had taken it without a spare wheel, no tool kit, no petrol container. There was a court of inquiry concluded we clerks should never have been asked to drive the Champs.

Re: Billie2
Seeing as NS was phased out between 1960 & 1963,when it ended, I don't think you were in much danger from the Republicans, my parents took me over to my grandparents in Crumlin right through to 1963, and they wouldn't have done that if there was high risk. My cousin was a prison guard at the old "Long Kesh" prison, and my brother in law worked there too, but if they met, they didn't recall each other. My aunt in Derry was injured by an explosion, and hit part of her anatomy, it wouldn't heal up, when she finally saw the doctor it was too late, it was breast cancer, terrible times.
Anyway, I shared a chicken goujon with himself today, he couldn't make up his mind whether it was the bread crumbs or the chicken he liked best of all, but it went down the little red road nicely!.
At last, the weather is improving, and I will get to wear pretty dresses!.

Re: Billie2
Billie and I had a bad night last night Emma had one of her drinking all night parties. At least 6 people shouting each other down at 4 am they did not go until 5.00 am but it was too late to go to bed then because i get up at 5.30 am. This afternoon Billie asked at her usual time 3.30 pm to be covered up and when l said it was too early she made a dickens of a noise and would not stop until l relented and covered her up then l could hear her tut tutteriung under the covers as l watched the Tour de France, our man Cav won again it was thrilling!
Lylette left two weeks ago and we are waiting to be told about her replacement, l was not the only one to write in to say what a good Housing officer she was but to no avail. However l phoned the HA this morning and by Golly our new housing officer introduced himself as J. His co worker is Chris, l thought that should have been K, l did say it was the Men in Black, however he promised to look into Lylette's case notes aand telephone me next week and if he does not l shall be back on the phone chasing him up. I had thought if there was no Housing officer l would make a complaint to the Ombusdam and still will if they do not sort Emma out for good.
Was Long Kesh the old barracks at Milligan point? The things l can remember is trying to go up hill and falling into these terrible bogs which hide under the heather, the rain, the IRA were active in 1961 and maybe it was just a scare story but the Cadets from Sandhurst were there too.

Re: Billie2
The cadets at Mons bks Aldershot were a disgrace, they started prowling the womens camp, and even managed to break into the huts, I was duty NCO one night and determined to catch a prowler, so I told the girls to switch off the security lights, and put them back on when I gave the order, anyway, sure enough I saw someone skulking about, shouted for light and went after him, the guy was naked!, I was shocked and couldn't understand why, until I caught him, he slipped through my hands like wet soap where he'd covered himself in oil. Anyway, as he legged it he ran slap bang into a post, and we got him, kept him in the guard room to wait for the redcaps, after he got court marshalled etc it didn't happen again.
I received a nice surprise yesterday, a lovely friend of mine got married, completely out of the blue, to a charming widower, and sent me photos,

Re: Billie2
My da was commisioned at Mons circa 1939, but that prowler got what he deserved. During my spell in hospital there was a man called Hedges who covered himself in Glycerine he made me sick when he got his dinner by tipping the desert Rhubbard and Custard on top of his roast beef and gravy gave it a stir and ate it all! The ward l was in had ECT but l managed to avoid that by getting better. I never married, and led a total selfish life.
Billie and l had a good nights sleep, nice and quiet but she still wanted to be covered at 4 pm so l watched the Tour with head phones.

When my daughter was in psych hospital there was a guy, only 18, called Wayne, he wandered around in his boxers and socks like a toddler. One, only One ecstasy tablet, and he was brain damaged for life, And he came from a good family, it was heartbreaking.
Sanjay and I have been a bit lethargic today, it is very sultry, but he managed a chortle earlier, probably trying to cheer himself up!. Lidl had tower fans in, Silvercrest, and that's good stuff, And cheaper than wilko's, but stoopid me didn't bother to get one. Dur!

Re: Billie2
I thought you bought a tower fan? I have an air conditioner which l use when it is really hot but it only reduces the temp
to 18c, otherwise l have a Dyson cool air thing which is quite good with the ceiling fan in the bed room it brings the temp down. Billie aske dto be covered at 3.30 but as she had a gppd sleep last night l told her it was too early and sat there quite contented preening until 4 pm when she asked again, but again l said "Too early!" But at at 4.30 l susp[rised her by starting to cover her up, she was up like a shot on her sleeping perch. Everyime l give her something l say "Thank you!" She just looks at me as if l were mad.
She had a lovely shower today especially when l got the misting bottles they made her wetter than the shower.

Re: Billie2
Drizzle often soaks us more than rain. No, I haven't replaced the knackered fan yet, and that is now the least of my problems. I stripped everything out of the palace today for a thorough blitz, and noticed the powder coating on some of the vertical bars has peeled off, it's the ideal excuse to buy a shorter but not narrower cage, but the one I like, the Rainforest Guyana is well over £200, and I did find the cheapest one on cagesworld, much cheaper than Scarlettts or N Parrots. So that's my next priority, it will take some doing, dismantling the palace, and I hope the new one hasn't got one of those "sprung" roofs, daddi had a devil of a job getting one of those on to a cage once.
Anyway, Sanjay supervised from the curtains, but as soon as the newspaper went down he felt it was safe to perch in his usual place, the top of his door.
Three years ago today, it was daddi's funeral, I don't know where the time has gone!, but I'm awfully glad that's behind me.

Re: Billie2
You must miss him, it will take time to heal the scars. There is so much to remind you of him but he lives on in Sanjay.
Billie had two showers in the bathroom today one this morning and one in the afternoon she is very itchy keeps shrugging her shoulders. She wont let me touch her and does not want a neck rub, however she still pulls out old feathers as they loosen, this moult has gone on for long enough, it started in April!
She got a millet spray this morning when I went to church, and extra fruit, she makes the rounds everything has been nibbled the bananna , pear, apple, grapes, the cooked carrot, the swede, sweet peas, and this afternoon she ate all the unpodded garden peas, but turned her nose up at the broad beans but ate one or two when l satarted to eat them. The corn cob went early, and the parrot stick this afternoon she gets one every afternoon. The millet spray will last a couple of days. I spilt a bag of powdered egg on the carpet and table but pured the remainder into a tin and offered it to her she duly tucked in. she eats like a horse!

Re: Billie2
I think they need extra nourishment when they're moulting, Sanjays is still slow. He likes egg too.
Well I went on my new tablet, armed with tape measure, and found a supplier who does the Rainforest Equador at a much better price and it's bigger than the Guyana, I had a look at Midland parrots new "Eaton" range, but they weren't that suitable tbh, on YouTube they show how to assemble dome top cages, and from what I've seen, they screw in place, thank goodness!. So It looks as though he will have the Equador at the moment, and a lamp stand, as his UV is attached to his roof at the moment, that's where Midland parrots come in handy, theirs is cheaper than some of the others. It will take a couple of Weeks to save up, but not a problem, once my mind is set on a goal, I go for it.
It's a pity my insurance doesn't cover wear and tear, but I daresay that would be pushing it!

Re: Billie2
A Tip when you assemble the new cage only do up the screws and nuts a couple of turns this will allow you to push and pull the cage to make sure it all fits together, then when it is assembled go round and tighten all the nuts and screws.
TBH? I decided against pet insurance mainly because cover would not start for a year, somebody advised setting up a savings account and put money away regulary this was how l paid the vet £377!
Billie shed a tail feather today they say the moult is over when this happens, but she has one more tail feather to go. She has been less itchy today, but never the less she had two showers today and got soaked each time. I hung up an orange and cut a slice off but she has shown no interest in it so will buy a pomegranite tomorrow and hang that up. so she can help herself as she wants. LOL l hung up a mineral block and she totally ignorred it but l put on the floor of the cage sne she as been nibbling it! Glad you are buying a stand for the uv light as Sanjay might get sunburnt when it is attached to the cage they recomend about 8 " from the bird, my stand is a tripod and if l am not careful with the vacumm cleaner it falls over. Which reminds me I must get a spare bulb. However l did remember to clean her mirror.

Re: Billie2
The UV attachment he already has is a good foot or more away from him. Ok, the Ecuador looks smallish after all, so it might be the Rainforest Mexico. And YouTube have assembly tutorials, so I know about the screw thingy, thanks anyway.
"tbh, To Be Honest".
I peel Sanjays oranges, I gave him nana today, but he isn't keen, no seeds to dig out.
A lady who works in wilko has a new African Grey, and tells me all her latest news!, she was very excited today because it has begun to sit on them!, I should have advised her to have a towel over her clothes.
Rainforest cages are giving away 2 free parrot toys with their cages, so that will be handy.

Re: Billie2
Northern Parrots only gave one toy with their cages. The last toy l bought Billie l hung in her door way and she tried to bite it through but after I moved it to further back in her cage she has ignorred it, she played with the babble ball that was loose on the cage floor but l could not pull the tray out with it there and she defended it to the last drop of my blood so it went on the floor and she now ignores it, the one one hanging up by the tubular bell gets banged when she wants attention. I bought some garden podded peas she loves these and scoffs the lot, however she is not keen on the podded broad beans. She dropped her last tail feather today and had a very wet shower this morning but did not want one this afternoon. Why are you buying a new cage for Sanjay?

Re: Billie2
Two reasons, the powder coating is coming off the bars, And it's a bit too much to maintain now there is just one of me, it takes an entire afternoon to clean thoroughly, it's way too high, I have to climb up to clean the roof bars. Having said that, I still want him to have flitting and flying room, the Rainforest Mexico is for Large and Medium parrots, so hopefully, it will be ok.
I don't agree with birds being out All the time, I like to have my windows and doors open, I watched a programme once, where a womans birds were out all the time, her home was covered in droppings, and she had slugs coming in through a gap in her patio doors, because of the damp caused by condensation.ew!
Not only that, but I have to go out sometimes,
