My counsin, whom thinks she is gods girft to the world yet hasnt amounted to a hill of crap, has paid 6500.00 for the tiara for the top of her wedding cake.
I know this is none of my business. But I never needed an invitation before so Im all up and through this situation.
Her parents are starving to give this 36 yr old woman this wedding. Her second. The first was equally extravagent.
As stupid as some of ya'll might think this is. I took all of our wedding money that was given to us by our family (we insisted we pay for it, we are in our 30's). Anyway, by the time it was all over and done with, I was sitting on close to 13 grand. Not alot but my point is I INVESTED IT rather than buying f'ing tiaras. THEY RENT! Grrrr
I took my wedding money, sold the house we were in, added that money to the equalty and am now thrown up in a fairly bad **** house.
I dont have a tiara but suppose I could get one if I wanted. My point is... WHY DONT PEOPLE USE MONEY TO GET AHEAD!!!!????
My wedding was bride, groom, kids, preacher, ocean at dusk. Whole thing probably 1500.00 and it was EXACTLY what I wanted.
She will now have a nice tiara to put on the book shelf of her camper trailer.
O/T PISSED!!!

Me either... I love to be the center of attention, God put me in that position lol.
But not when it comes to ceremony. A wedding is so personal... intimate. I dont want people even hearing what my husband and I vowed... none of their buisness.
Your wedding is going to frigging ROCK!!! My aunt did that and it went over like you wouldnt imagine. People LOVED IT because it took away the stuffiness of the whole thing. Jeans and a T and she walked out in a wedding dress. Bam. We all went nuts when we realized they werent kidding because her mom was crying.

My wedding to John was in a park and after we had a HUGE cookout and the kids played volleyball and danced to the music and then Mom Nature threw a huge thunder storm at us and we all had to run into the shelter house. We ate barbeque chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs, and brats. We made all the side dishes ourselves and decorated the park. That's what we poor people do it--gotta make due with what you have. And I wouldn't change a thing either! We had a blast and it was very low key! And we've been happily married for almost 7 years now. And together for 10. So... I understand Mikaela. What I wouldn't do for the money she's wasting on a tiara!

Yep, you can have an excellent wedding without the cost. Jamie and I had been together for 5 years and engaged for 2, I was 19 and then I fell pregnant, we decided to get married and only had $2,000 to spare. My parents and I haven't spoken really since I was 17 and Jamie's parents didn't have any money either so we just had a garden ceremony with finger foods and my wedding dress came from a bridal shop closing down sale for $150 and I borrwed a veil. All in all it was a fantastic day and I wouldn't change a thing. Anyway, this July it will be 11 years of marriage...and they said we wouldn't make it past 2

same here.. Jim and I met when I was 15 and he was 19
shhh! stop it... lol. Its ok here in Aust.
Anyway .. we had been best buddies, just enjoying life and having a ball, going out with friends, club racing, rally driving etc. we had been together for 8 years , everyone expected a big wedding. But when mum caught wind of the fact we were going to elope, take our best man and matron of honour, rent a sports car and wiz interstate to a cellebrants office. Take a humungous amount of fun and amazing photo's of our drive and bring them back to show everyone. My mum cracked it big time.
Only daughter and all, I HAD TO have a wedding. Then .. a gigantic cocktail party with a band and " thats it " was mentioned, but that was out of the question too.
Mum wanted to dress me in white and do the whole do.. sigh !
Well that was 18 years ago now. Waste of money except it made the parents incredibly happy so I guess in that respect it wasn't such a waste.
My kids , now I am the mumma .. can do it their own way.. so long as I can see pics or something. Still not in for big wedding biz. I would rather them use the money for a house or furthering their career or such anyway.
