Hi everyone,
I'm new here. My name is Donna and I'm from Wisconsin.
I'm brand new to bird ownership. I just got my BEAUTIFUL blue Indian Ringneck a few days ago.
Since I've never had a bird before I'm scrambling to learn about them.
I have one big question right now that I'm wondering if you could answer.
My bird (sorry, I haven't chosen a name yet!!) is just under 3 months old and had his wings clipped (and was weaned) the day before I got him/her.
Every time I take "him" out of the cage he tries to fly. I know this is instinctive but I'm worried he'll get hurt. Of course, each time I get him back on my finger, but then he does it again. (He already knows how to "step up".)
I just don't know if I should be letting him do this or trying to stop him!
I feel like he needs to flap his wings and move around but I don't want him to hurt himself. He's very unsure on his feet, very clumsy.
Yesterday when I was going to put him back in the cage he tried to fly and landed on the outside of the cage above the door. He's not real good at hanging on and he started to slip off, I had to grab him!
Any advice?
I'm so glad this forum is here. I tried finding info on this online but couldn't find an answer. I appreciate any help you can give!
