Our latest intake at the rescue is a male IRN, 17 years old. He's had one owner, but that owner let some rather bad habits devlop.
He doesnt step up, at all, and is terrified of hands. He was moved from place to place via shoulder.
He refuses to eat anything healthy, and I had to break down and give him junk seed just to know he's eating.
He's rather grumpy all the time, but solicits for attention. If you give it to him, he screams.
I love IRN's, they are my angels, but this guy is going to be a hard one to get into shape for adoption. I see a battle with him nearly as bad as the one with Maz to get him to eat properly, and I am befuddled about the hands. He is literally in terror of them... you cant even save him from falling without him becoming hysterical.
Oh .. they joys. Babies are so much easier!

Athena,
That sounds a lot like what I go thru with Byndi! She won't get on your hand for anything! The other day I put my hand in to have her step up and she was booging up my arm like she always does and lost her balance-cuz the vet did an AWESOME job trimming her talons-and fell to the bottom of the cage. So she was TICKED to say the least! I tried to pick her up and comfort her and when she realized she was on my hand she bit the snot out of me. Then ran up my arm and bit my fore arm. She wants NO part of hands. Now she'll still let me scritch her, so she's ok with my hands there. But... She's such a strange little bird. And I am so in love with her! I'm so glad you all talked me into keeping her. Anyway, best of luck with the new bird. Wow! 17 years old. Why did he get rid of him? Poor bird. What's his name and color? You'll have to post pics when you can. He's in good hands and you'll have him like butter in no time.
Hugs,
Jen
