I have obviously underestimated the intelligence of my baby. Smokey, now about 5 months old (I've had him since he was 7-8 weeks old). He stays mainly on his cage or the playground but has just started to come to the other side of the lounge to visit me instead of me going to him. However, he NEVER, comes into the kitchen. However he has just started to realise that if I am in the kitchen it means food!! He has only just started to stand on the corner of his cage and tries to peer round the corner or he calls out but still NEVER comes into the kitchen. He knows food is not far away for everyone though. Tonight he actually came to the kitchen doorway, didn't actually come in but close enough on the floor to see me (it was sooooooo cute) I called out hello to him, "did you come for a visit or to see how far away your dinner is?" He was sitting in the doorway waving at me - a sign he wanted something. I told him its not too much longer, lol and he left and went back to sit at the top corner on the outside of his cage. I cut a piece of carrot for him and took it straight away cos he was just too cute, lol.

. Not 10 seconds later he is screeching out! I rushed in to see what was wrong (this was an unusually loud screech) and there he is peering, from the top of his cage, looking down through the bars into his cage. I wondered what he was going on about. When he saw me he raced inside his cage to his water bowl and there it was, - the carrot at the bottom of the water. He was still screeching! I retrieved the carrot, which he quickly snatched from me and then he ran to another part of the cage away from the water to enjoy his carrot! I just can't believe that he communicated with me like this, it has not happened before..... it was just so gorgeous

Is this the beginning of many more surprises and wonderful experiences with my feathered child ?
