Green Split to Blue Question

Post by Feathered Friends »

I have a pair of IRNs, the male is a grey green and the female is a green who I was told was split to blue. I was talking to a breeder who when I told her about the female being split to blue told me that wasn't possible. Any info on this? I want to learn the genetics behind these awesome birds so any go-to places for information would be extremely helpful. Thanks!

Hi,

It is very possible.
In fact in Australia 90+% of green ringnecks are split for Blue, it is rather rare to find a green not split to anything.
That includes grey greens as well.
