Okay, more pics of my new baby........

Post by Lisa's Tiki »

First of all - CAG does stand for Congo African Grey. I went and put a deposit on a baby on the 18th. Of course he/she will not be weaned until probably around June or July, but I can go visit whenever I want the breeder told me. Anyway, we went again this past Saturday and I took some photos, here they are:

I am just wondering how Tiki is going to react to another new flock member, especially one that is bigger than him. Currently Tiki and Emmy (my Nanday Conure) do not get along, of course Emmy doesn't get along with anyone now other than my husband, to her that is her MAN and she wants nothing to do with anyone else! I am betting that Tiki will teach the new baby his entire vocabulary. It is going to be very interesting to see I think.

Lisa,
What an adorable baby. How fun is this going to be for you?? Jeepers do you have to wait until June or July to bring him/her home?? I bet you can't wait. Well thanks for the pictures and keep em coming.

Yep, I have to wait until June or July to bring the baby home. The breeder told me African Greys normally take between 3 to 6 months to wean with 4 months being the average, so it could actually be longer than July, because he/she is only 4 weeks old! Ugh, the wait is going to kill me! Of course this baby is suppose to be my birthday present and my birthday isn't until the end of August. :D

NAMES??????

Post by Lisa's Tiki »

The breeder is having this baby DNA'd for me. The names I have come up with so far are:

Girl: Dixie or Ruby
Boy: Smokie, Stormy or Blaze

I am leaning towards Dixie for a girl and Blaze for a boy, but does anyone have any other suggestions? I am open to all input.

The waiting is going to kill me until I can bring this little sweetheart home - June or July - or worst yet August is TOO far away!!!! But it is for the best (not to mention the law) that birds are not allowed to be sold until they are weaned. Plus I know nothing about hand feeding and I don't even want to attempt it! I am sure the breeder is going to get sick of me calling and asking if I can come visit. Of course he is about 50 miles roundtrip away from me and with gas prices almost $2.60 a gallon, I'm sure I won't be making too many visits, but how can I resist, especially when they grow and change so fast!

omg! ... Just be glad you are sitting waiting.. would love to be waiting on my Grey coming home to me .. sigh! jealousy creeping up .. aww and how cute that little face is.

Dixie and Blaze struck me as what i liked out of those names too, then I read on and see you like those aswell, well second on that, unless something better strikes you before june/july/aug.

Like Chamon said, give the little darlin love and kisses from all its Aunties and Uncles here at IRN.com

:D
