So if anyone read my previous post on my irn and how I left it home with my sisters care. I asked my landlord ( I asked him when moving in and it was - no birds) but I told him my sisters aren't doing a good job with socialization so he is allowing me to bring her . Well im hoping this will let me work with her because she needs to be worked with... I just hope she isn't to loud because I cant have my housemates complain because they need to study or she has to go back...
After thanksgiving im going to have to bring her on a 7 hour car drive...
Any suggestions on the drive and introduction to a new environment and beginning the "work" ?
Landlord allowing me to bring my irn to college house ! :D

Wow, good for you Steph.
It's probably a good time to start talking to your flat mates about it and try to gently work on their attitudes towards your bird and building their expectations regarding noise, behaviour, keeping doors and windows closed, messiness (all birds make mess), how you want them to interact with her (if at all).
For the drive, if she has any music/noises she likes, you can listen to those in the car. If she gets scared by things coming past the windows you can partially cover the cage or cover the windows. If this doesn't bother her, then no need to do it.
Make sure the temperature is good for her the entire trip and that she gets enough fresh air, especially if you are stopping anywhere along the way. Personally, I've made it a policy to never leave my birds int he car unattended. Do you have someone travelling with you who can watch over them and stay with them if you are having a bathroom / snack break? Do you know of any place along the way you can stop and take her out of the car (in her cage) with you?
Take a few things from her old environment with you so that they might reassure her in your new environment.
I'm sure others will have some ideas too.

Well i know shes a irn... But if she screams nonstop im gonna have to bring er back home for xmas.. But i told them she usually does it in the morning when the sun goes up. Im gonma try to teach her she gets no attentiom when yelling and when she stops give her a treat. I know its not going to work oer night tho.
For the ride i was thinking should i just keep her mostly covered in her cage? Im bringing her cage and all her toys. Her cage isnt giant so it fits in the back seat. I will have 2 people driving me back so incase i need a bathroom break .. U never know theae days someone can see a bird and people could steal her. Ill have my cat too.. But my cat and my birds are fine together.

Hi Stephi
Just be sure you've thought all this through. What you've written in your previous post is making me a feel a little uncomfortable. The thought of having a cat and a bird in the space of a confined car for a seven-hour drive, even if they are fine together, just doesn't feel right to me. Even if the cat knows better than to try to attack the bird, the cat's presence could still make your bird feel nervous... and she'll already probably be scared because of the car trip.
Also, if you don't have your house mates on board with getting your bird, it's not going to be a fun term for anybody and could cause you and your bird a lot of needless stress.
Just my opinions based on what you are saying... sorry if it's not what you want to hear. I'd be wondering if might be best for her to stay where she is a little longer.

if your irn makes terrible noises people will complain... if it makes sweet pretty noises they will enjoy it..
i suggest creating a playlist of other parrots making noises and play that for your bird while you're away.. it will learn to make those noises which can be interesting.. whereas screaming will annoy people.
I don't think you'll get complaints though.. irns can be noisy but I don't see them being noisy to the point that it's a real problem.
