COCO saved him!!

Post by Marlin »

Its been around a year now since we found/saved our bird.

he was only a few months old

we called him COCO

Am 27years old living in Sydney Australia

one day at work went into a unit where the tenants had ran away without paying rent, place was a mess

in a one bedroom unit they used to have 2 large dogs.

then found a bird cage, pretty bad condition, open with no bird,
i assumed they had taken the bird

Few hours later 10 stories below on a balcony i found a scared dissorientated blue IRN

he didnt have enough energy to run away

got a shoe box and put him in it barely alive.

as soon as i gave him water he kept drinking and drinking, like giving him new life

got him home,, couple of hundred dollars down due to the purchase of a new cage and accessories.

at first he was scared, but only after a few weeks he started whistling,

he wouldn't step up
but one day when cleaning his cage he just jumped onto my jumper.

He doesnt like to walk on our skin, he prefers material

now one year later he talks a few phrases, whistles and loves to come out for walks, a very emotional bird

we love him
wish i got a IRN earlier

as soon as he hears my car or my wives car he starts talking whistling and trying to get our attention, when we do finally give him attention he cries and shows so much emotion.

Welcome to our family Marlin and Coco.

Coco is one lucky bird to have people like you scoop him up and save him for certain death. Sounds like he has bonded well with you :D Thanks for sharing your story with us.

i don't spend as much time with him as my wife does

she plays with him for hours each day

i only get to see him when i get back from work

and he gets really emotional and even cries when he sees me

he doesnt bite unless you touch him where he doesnt like it, but he has never ever bit me,, i can do whatever i want to him and he doesnt bite

but if anyone like touches him in places he doesnt like ( such as his tail he doesnt let anyone touch it) he will bite them

is it possible he appreciates me saving him???

p.s i never knew birds could be so emotional

People are brought up so confused about animals. Like they are stupid or something, just because we cant understand the way they think.
Your bird might not appreciate you saving him per-se but he does appreciate the good home and the love you give him.
You and your family are his flock now and he needs you and your family to survive just like we as people need each other.

Marlin and Wife, u ought to be so proud of yourselves yet u appear so humble. I think coco shows quite clearly that he does remember you saved him. How lucky you got to him when you did. What a precious bird. Big kiss for him for being such a sweety.xxxxx :P

OMG - I am sitting here crying. That story is so sad yet happy at the same time.

IRN's are so precious and loving. My Squeak is the most affectionate bird that I have EVER owned!

Enjoy the rest of your time with your new family member & dont forget to give him a kiss from me & Squeak
