Re: New to hand rearing - Help?
Just as an update, she finally gave me a proper feeding response, even if only for a couple of seconds. I'm very relieved at this point, I think she'll start getting the hang of it now. It may have been partly because I added a tiny bit of peanut butter to the mix and I increased the temperature. I'...

Re: New to hand rearing - Help?
Yes, she didn't seem to like being in a box to feed so we wrap her gently in a small towel and hold her while feeding. Although she's still quite fearful of us. We make sure to feed her in a quiet environment without distractions. Since posting I've increased the temperature of the mix to around 42 ...

New to hand rearing - Help?
We pulled our four week old Ringneck chick from the nest two days ago which wasn't what we were planning on doing but she had to have vet care and we didn't have much choice. I've never hand reared before so I'm not sure how long it's meant to take her to get used to our formula. We're currently usi...

Hey there Bec, yes it is a funhouse here, I see you're in Aus too? Here's a pic I took the other day, Lilly, the female was taking a break and having a strecth out of her box, sitting with her boyfriend, Sam so I thought I'd take some happy snaps :) http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p217/kittyfizzw...

Re: New to breeding, need genetics help
Thanks guys that kinda makes sense to me now, I'm not sure he is split though because I only vaguely remember the conversation, so I don't know, they're actually due to hatch today, so I might as well just wait for them to grow their feathers, I'm so excited though, I hope they are split mutations. ...

Hey there from Australia :)
Hi there, I'm Catherine, I'm obviously new to the board, I did sign up a few months ago but never got around to doing anything about it. I absolutely ADORE birds, our family is relatively new to owning Ringnecks, we bought an untame breeding pair in June, but we've had birds for about 3 1/2 years no...

New to breeding, need genetics help
Hi there, we have recently aquired a blue cock and a lutino hen, just wondering what colour the babies will be, from the research I've done I think they will have all green split blue babies, but I'm not to sure, I have very limited knowledge of genetics, and I think I remember the previous owners m...
