I was generalising when I said sawdust I meant shavings as you guys call it, not the really fine dust, just to clear things. Sorry for the mix up.

Try just plain sawdust from a sawmill or local hardware store if they have a cutting section. You need a good 3 to 4 inches approximately 100ml. The hen will do the rest. Tks Jeremy for your input much appreciated, will let you know how the egg situation pans out. Mattls no drama birds have settled nicely hen just laid second egg should drop third egg on thursday and then hen will sit, give it about 10 days after 3rd egg and will check if they are fertile. best wish...

Angie, I hope it all works out for you, however you need to be comfortable handling the eggs and checking them say about ten/twelve days after the third egg has been laid. The hen will sit on the third egg, hold the egg up to the sunlight you can easly tell if the egg is clear or if it's dark and so...
