my daughter is very excited about the possibility of breeding my blue male (we are presently looking for a adult female)
larissa has fallen in love with both the lutino & the pied mutations
is there any way we could possibly breed either of these colors with my blue?
if not im not that worried because any babies would only be secondary joy to kieron being a happier bird when i got him he had already been a breeder & i think he will be happier if this works out
also i have tiried to find a pic of the cage i have in mind but no luck i can tell you its 6 foot high 2 foot deep & 3 foot wide will that be large enough?

Your cage size should be sufficient for breeding pets. But best breeding cages are those oriented horizontally. Minimum size where IRNs are bred successfully is 2'x2'x4' horizonal and suspended approximately 3 feet.

Captive birds in cages tend to prefer to fly horizontally rather than vertically, so horizontal cages enables them to get more exercise.
Here's a 2'x2'x4' breeding cage that I built
.. and a 3'x3'x6' breeding cage/holding cage that I bought
Both make excellent breeding cages. Suspended cages like these make it easier to clean and I suppose lessens rat and ant infestation.
