Hi all,
I don't seem to be having much luck with the training (and/or taming) of my IRN's. Whenever I go to get Topaz out of the cage we have this frantic leaping, screeching and running around before it will "step up" on the stick that I use, then once out of the cage, flutters down on the floor and then just keeps running away all the time (only in the house of course), and to catch him/her I sometimes have to revert to the towel over the bird trick!! Whenever I manage to get him/her on the stick with a step up, just flutters straight off to the ground again!!
Anyone any ideas (and no - we don't have any favourite food - or at least I haven't found it yet and tried all sorts of things, fruit, vegies, popcorn peanuts, toast etc and nothing!!)?
I really am getting frustrated and wonder whether Topaz wil ever decide that it likes me!!

Training and taming might take months. Yoda is the same at the moment. Will step up fine but wont stay on my hand. Ive also tried food, toys.. But he just wont stay. I'm being very patient and persistant. I'm hopeing this pays off. I'm also taking Yoda into the bathroom where there is no distractions and practicing step ups. Its just Yoda and I, he cant fly away here.
Can you take him into distraction free place like the bathroom?

That's an excellent idea - I'll try that tonight - oops no, tomorrow night (going out tonight) - there are a couple of stands in there, but I can probably move them into the passage for half and hour or so - thanks PS chick for that idea.
We certainly have a great forum here.
