injury

Post by lollypop »

I have only had birds of any sort for 1 year. My sister died and I inherited 4 IRN. Well I have just managed a clutch of 5 babies. A yellow and a blue. I have 4 green and one yellow. My fifth baby seemed to be very late out of the nest. When I checked the baby was just huddled on the bottom. The parents had stopped feeding this one. When I took it out the baby's leg appeared to be dislocated. I have put her in a smaller cage and started hand feeding although some seeds are being eaten. I think it is in a lot of pain. I live in the bush near Gympie, Queensland Australia. We don't have a bird vet. Would matacam Work for a bird as well as for other pets or should I be doing something else.

Hi,

sorry to hear about your baby.
I'm in the sunshine coast and use BBV in Chermside, but apparently the vet at blI bli is okay with birds, though I haven't used him myself.

Thanks, took her to vet in gympie. They are going to x-ray pelvic area tomorrow. Talking about operating and putting in a pin. I'm a bit worried about the anesthetic. Not sure there are any other options for a 8week old ringneck with a fractured pelvis.
