not IRN related.. advice re training love bird bub

Post by cassie.c87 »

Hi all just wanting some opinions re training a parent raised peach face bub. I want to let him/her to get to know me before I handle him/her (eg trust my hand in the cage then teach to step up) but my partner want's me to get hands on and just grab it and hold/pat it until it get's used to it (I find that harsh and how the heck will I teach it to stay on my hand doing that?)
Just wondering what you all think and if anyone has any tips/tricks I could try

I think lovebird bites hurt. A lot.

They are both valid methods, both used with success. It's really going to be how you feel about it. I've done both, depending on the bird and how I felt about it. If I felt it would traumatize the little one, then I wouldn't.

I've been called 'birdbrained' before, but somehow I don't think this is what they meant. say:hah-nay
