sleep talking??

Post by sooty »

Hi there,
my IRN is about 10/11wks old now, and he's started sitting on his perch, closing his eyes and vocalising/mumbling to himself.

Is he sleep talking? or is he awake while he does this....normally he tucks his head into his wing to sleep.

Very perculiar.

You know that’s a really good question. I think it’s just like a baby who makes cooing sounds. It’s just plain relaxing to them. When my Ringnecks are ready for bed, they start to mumble. So I guess it’s just a way for them to relax.

Hope this helps & Happy New Year!

Best wishes,

I.C.

sooty,
I think that this is quite normal. My IRN makes the cutest  mumbling, sighing and chirping sounds while he's getting settled for the night. Makes you just want to take him out and give him a big hug'n'squeeze (not recommended though)! Sometimes he will talk a bit but not usually. I would have to say it's kind of like the stuff people do in their sleep...some talk, snore, twitch and make a whole assortment of other noises.
Have a great day!
