Stop bird from screaming, and training.

Post by wiesa56 »

I have a female IRN (around 2 years). I've tried training her, but nothing works. I've tried treats and many other techniques that I've found online. She bits when you try getting close to her, and screams a lot. Can anyone give me some tips? And how can I get her to stop screaming.

I posted a simalar thread. My Lola is 11months came to me at 6months untame. She still is untame. I was told to get foraging toys for her. She also will sit and scream in turn makes my macaw scream. I found a good toy that will keep her busy for sometime esp if she sees her fave treats in it. Its called 'Nutcase' its safe bird rubber with holes in. I shove tissue paper, raffia wood anything aswell as her fave treat.

There is a lot of threads on here that talk about training and taming. I've had myself searching years back on topics that have helped.

It'll be said again but its paitence. I know its frustrating but a bird can't be rushed. Give her time and I'm sure like my lila will stop screaming so much

What exactly are "foraging toys"? And what's the pros of using them?

Hi there,

Foraging is keeping birds beaks and minds busy looking for food. A lot of problems that pet parrots develop can come from boredom.
I'm sure our bird likes solving his toys more than he actually likes the food in them most of the time! He doesn't like to see a puzzle in his cage unsolved.
Here's some great information and suggestions:
