My IRN screams for the cat food container
Ive had my guy for 9 years now and for some reason this year he has taken to screaming Almost all day. If he is inside you can pretty much guarantee he's screaming. He will quiet down for awhile if I take him out to the garage and let him regurgitate food to the cat food container. I'm starting to worry about him, he screams till his entire little body is shaking and when he talks to you the shaking can be heard like a little child talking while shivering. I've tried spending more time with him, changing out his toys, changing his diet, nothing works. He only calms down when he can be near the cat food container but it's been in the 100s outside so I can't leave him out there long. He's been this way for several months now and the other animals are now starting to be affected. Please I need advice, the pet stores around here don't know much about animals other than how to sell them.

Re: My IRN screams for the cat food container
Given the cat food container seems to calm him down and he regurgitates to it, I think he may have chosen it as a mate substitute? Do you think his behaviour is consistent with that? You could consider getting him a IRN birdie friend. If your bird is a male, you could go with another male or a female. Two males will usually get along but sometimes females can be too aggressive and your bird may be scared of her.
Screaming (and biting) always occur for a reason, the trick is figuring out what is causing it and trying to address the cause.
BTW - could you bring the cat food container inside?
Good luck and best wishes.
Ellie.

Re: My IRN screams for the cat food container
I may need to get him a friend, the cat food container is just one of the many things he regurgitates food too. Right now it's the one he's most demanding of and I have started bringing it in and that suffices for awhile but he will start to scream to be outside and wants the food out there with him. Thank you for your help, I don't know how old he was when I got him and don't want to breed him so do I need to worry about the age of a companion if that turns out to be my only option?
