Hey, my name is Cheryl and have recently bought an Indian Ringneck from a breeder near me. He is only 12 weeks old and he is bright green and is very tame. He eats out my hand and he will sit on my shoulder for hours, I am so happy, I love him so much. I am trying to teach him to talk but I read that not all Indian Ringnecks will talk but I don't mind if mine won't be able to talk, I think our special bond together is much more important. Oh and his name is Olly

Anyway about me, I am a Psychology student at Birmingham City University, I have a huge love for animals, I have 14 pets which are, a parrot, a dog, 4 canaries, 2 budgies, 3 hamsters and 2 chinchillas. I plan on having much more pets when I move into my own place. I am a very friendly person and love making new friends.

If anyone has any good advice on how to give my beautiful parrot the best life, please feel free to message me

Hi Cheryl, I'm jealous, I just got 3 new babies, I can only handle one, she is a greenie also, the other two are a month older came from breeder in Texas and will get on a stick for me to talk to but no hand yet!!! I thi k they were traumatized from the long flight, I can't wait to have a birdie to snuggle with, yours sounds awesome, your very lucky. I also have a African grey, so I'm known s the crazy bird lady...lol and I am!!! Welcome to the forum!!! It's interesting, kinda slow at getting replays most of the time!! Enjoy, can't wait to hear more, oh I do know they won't start talking till they are like a year or so old!!!! But there voice is so drn cute!!!

Hi Cheryl. I'm fairly new here also but i have learnt so much amazing information since I joined. This info will definately help you to enrich your relationship with your companion parrot. I have two irn's which are breeding at the moment. The male is a green, Rafiki is his name, and he is my cuddly baby. Although I have currently been replaced by a new love who is a yellow female called Buzz. She is sweet but moody lol. She is about 4-5 yo and Raf is 3. I have also just ordered a violet baby so am very excited. We also have sulphur crested cockatoo arriving this weekend I have also been dubbed the crazy bird lady lol. My other pets include a burmese cat, four pythons and 3 bearded dragons. That is my zoo and I love them all I am from the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia.

Hey thank you for your replies. Wow you both have so many birds. I'll be having loads of birds soon hopefully, me and my grandad are currently building an aviary so we can breed canaries and budgies.

I love this site, I am reading quite a lot of here and have had some good advice.

Oh yeah, why doesn't this site let me edit my profile or anything? It says I can't do it until I have posted a few times but I have posted a lot now and I still cannot edit it. It's quite annoying. Oh well.

Yes, you can still add a profile pic but you will probably need to have it saved on a photo sharing site and then embed it in your post.

We were getting some rather bad pornographic images posted here a while ago and introducing this measure has stopped that. We have children that use this forum so it was important to introduce these measures although it can be disheartening for new members.
