Aw, Lady! I know, I know! It’s just horrible when they bite! Believe me I can attest to being bitten. I would try keeping Alex off your shoulders for a bit. Though it is quite convenient to have them on your shoulders while going about your business I would place him on a desk, T-Stand, or the counter. This way you don’t have to worry about being bitten—thankfully you did not burn yourself! Now that would suck!
For the first year, I did not let Archimedes on my shoulders as much until I could fully trust him. When he was on my shoulders, I placed him there—never did I just let him wonder up there. If I keep him on my fingers perched, he’ll stays there. If I place him on a desk, he’ll stays there. No matter where I place him I know he’ll be there—he is very good that way; however, it took a lot of training.
Alex is still very young and he must learn his boundaries. When he bites ignore the negative behavior. Avoid all eye contact and do not talk to him. Make him step up and place him away from you. It’s amazing how quickly they learn to adjust their behaviors.
Also, don’t take the bites personal. I know it can dishearten just about anyone—especially because we invest so much time into them and in return they bite us. We just have to enjoy them for what they are. Just be consistent and before you know it, Alex will pass through these negative behaviors. Archimedes rarely bites and he is just the best bird—same for his sister. All in all, just hang in there
Best wishes,
IMRAN
