Hi from Portugal

Post by rnsilva »

Hi everyone,

I'm Ricardo Mendão Silva from Portugal, I'm 25 years old and I love ringnecks :D.
Professionally talking, I'm a PhD Candidate in Sciences and Information Technology at University of Coimbra, where "I've been researching" about Wireless Sensor Networks.

About my ringnecks: I've 5 couples, but must of them are from this year. Here is the list:

1.0 ino /turquoise (2005) x 0.1 Blue (2004)
1.0 turquoise /ino (2008) x 0.1 Grey (2007)
1.0 turquoise /ino (2009) x 0.1 ino /blue (2009)
1.0 green /blue ino (2009) x 0.1 ino blue (2009)
1.0 olive green /lacewing blue (2009) x 0.1 ino turquoise (2009)

I hope to learn with you,

You can see some pics of my birds at http://etudoquerofazer.blogspot.com (it is in Portuguese, sorry)
Best,

Ricardo Mendão Silva

Hi and welcome.

I agree, you have nice birds there and a variety. :)

We have Red Rumps in the wild here. A couple of times they have been eating seed from the backyard lawn. Really nice to see them in their natural enviroment. The males are such pretty birds.

Thanks guys.

I just haven't more birds because I haven't time to care of them all.

I cannot imagine how it is to live in a place like Australia, where the majority of the Psitacideas we breed here in Europe came from.

I know that for local farmers birds are a big problem, and the "funny" thing is that we heard that farmers in some places of Australia use to kill lots of Cockatoos, that in Europe cost about 1500 Euros (+-2000 USD) each.

I've never been in Australia, but I'm sure that one day I'll go there (just to watch birds). :)
Best,

Ricardo Mendão Silva
