Just a simple Question.
We have been clicker training Amazon for a while now, he will chase his target stick and ring a bell, he will also bring me his cup (milk bottle lid) to get a treat.
My Question is can we use the same clicker with Toby if we click it twice before he gets a treat instead of once like we do with Amazon or will this confuse both of them.
Really need to know so we can start doing this with Toby, because when we do it with Amazon Toby hears the click and wants to see what is going on.
Amazon is doign well with the training and we want Toby to start soon so he will do well too.
Thanks Sharlene

your solution lies in theclicker +
get two
http://www.clickertraining.com/store/?item=traininggear
set one to click - the other to chirp or whistle or just use one and use the original clicker
here are a few articles on training too

i hope youre weaning him off the clicker for every learned behaviour.

i havent got that far with him yet to wean him off the clicker yet, if i say something he wont run to do it but will take his time to get to his bell etc.
i was doing some clicker training with him the other day and i said "amazon ring the bell" he got the bell and move it round then looked at me ran and stole the clicker from me trying to click it himself.
He always runs away with the clicker

You can clicker train Ringnecks. I actually clicker trained Archimedes. If you look at my video section you can see a few tricks I taught him.

I was amazed at how quickly he picked up the tricks. I had him waving, turing around, and placing coins into a bowl. I was really amazed. Keep the sessions to around 15 mins and make the training enjoyable…please keep us updated I would love to know how it works out with your ringneck!
Best wishes,
Imran

thanks ringneck, could you please give me tips on how to keep it enjoyable and should i be only concreating on one trick at a time becasue sometimes he gets bored of ringing his bell so he gets his cup i dont use the clicker when he gets his cup i put a sunflower seed in the cup when he brings it to me.
Plus when you clicker trained your boy what did you give him for treats im using budie treats as he loves them adn sunflower for his cup.
How do i wean him off the clicker and when?
I dont understand sites as much as people telling me what i need to know.
Thanks Sharlene

1. keep you sessions short and happy - soon as you or he get frustrated - quit for the day
2. choose a behaviour you want to train and spend 5 minutes only on that. in all likelihood over time you will see other behaviour appear as you train one behaviour - thats when you capture
3. You are rewarding slow responses - dont. reward only what you WANT to see. once you bird picks up a behaviour reward only better and better versions of that behaviour. near enough is not good enough
4. Start to wean as soon as you have a behaviour that is developed to your satisfaction. You can read about fading at clickersolutions.com - give it a go - the articles are written by real people with real experiences.
